Baldur’s Gate 3 exited early access for its full launch on Aug. 3 to major success — the game peaked at a whopping 875,343 concurrent players, according to SteamDB, making it one of the year’s biggest games. Even developer Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke was shocked: “This was not in the books at all. This was way, way beyond what we expected,” telling PC Gamer that it expected 100,000 players max. More than a month past its release, Baldur’s Gate 3 still surpasses that number in concurrent players, with nearly 200,000 at the time of this writing.

The Sims 5, also knows as Project Rene, was announced last year, though further details on the title are pretty light so far. In some big Sims news today, EA has confirmed that The Sims 5, codenamed Project Rene, will be “free to download when it's ready."

EA has launched another of its Behind the Sims showcases at the internet, this one bringing confirmation that The Sims 5 — or codename Project Rene as it's officially known at present — will indeed be a free-to-play game, as previously leaked, and will coexist alongside The Sims 4. Oh, and there was also some news on The Sims 4's first Stuff Pack in over two-and-a-half years.

There are a bunch of new Fortnite My Hero Academia characters in the game, as announced Tuesday by Epic Games. You can now play as Shoto Todoroki, Eijiro Kirishima, and Mina Ashido from the anime’s Class 1-A. Todoroki is available by himself, while the other two are included in a bundle. Additionally, characters can now create an Ice Wall, in addition to using the Deku Smash.

EA has now confirmed that The Sims 5, or Project Rene, will be free to play, and while it will still sell content packs, the game could also launch with features traditionally locked behind Sims DLC.

Donald Mustard, Epic Games’ chief creative officer and one of the driving forces behind its hugely successful Fortnite, has announced he’s leaving the company.

Here he is, then – Jean-Claude Van Damme as Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 1. Despite the Belgian actor famously playing Guile in the live action Street Fighter movie, Cage has always been inspired by the Hollywood star, and he’ll finally feature as the character in the reboot’s Premium Edition, which includes access to the first Kombat Pack.

Epic Games’ Chief Creative Officer and one of the leading forces behind Fortnite’s monumental success is stepping down. Donald Mustard confirmed on Twitter earlier today that he’ll be “retiring” from his role later this month. It doesn’t sound like there’s any drama here, as he mentions he’s looking forward to spending time with his wife and family and remains “forever grateful to [founder] Tim Sweeney and the Epic Games family”.

But when a boss fight meant that all of those spells failed me, I had to turn to a true icon: Magic Missile.
