Playing as a Dark Urge character is one of the most interesting ways to approach , but it can also make a number of the game's branching possibilities completely unavailable in a campaign. The more players explore, the more options for bizarre and broken exploits they find. Whether it's by successful dialogue checks, a hidden trick within a boss battle, or a perfectly tweaked OP build, there are many ways to make difficult situations much simpler to resolve.

In , there are several members who can be added to your party and aid you on your adventure, including familiars, one of whom is known as Shovel The Quasit. Unlike the Find Familiar spell that allows players to summon various animal companions, Shovel must be summoned through their own spell scroll.

Half-Elves are a mixed race in . They gain some racial features from bother their Elf and Human lineages. However, they are not as versed with weapons and cannot carry as much weight.

lets players do damage in the thousands, steal tons of gold, and skip entire sections of the plot, even if the game doesn't always make it easy. In this detailed RPG, developer Larian has created a truly rich, highly interactive world. Odd little secrets and super rare endings seem to prove that Larian thought of everything possible in , but even so, it couldn't catch everything.

The decision over whether to enter the Planecaster in is more complicated than it seems. The party may be faced with this choice if they progress in the githyanki crèche questline, which eventually puts them face-to-face with the githyanki god-queen Vlaakith. Using Shadowheart's mysterious Astral Prism, which thus far has seemed to protect the party from Illithid influence, Vlaakith opens a portal to the Astral Plane, and demands that the party step inside and kill her prisoner. Unless the player has been following the lore very closely, it's difficult to understand just what this decision entails until they're already on the other side.

is a wonderfully complex game, with a plethora of different choices to make throughout. It's no wonder then that there are lots of different endings to account for all the decisions made along the way. Some are for individual characters as their story comes to a close, while others represent the end of the overall journey to save Faerûn.

does an admirable job accounting for player creativity and experimentation, but certain possibilities are blocked off by limitations that can be immersion-breaking and lead to some head-scratching moments. The task of emulating the experimentation of tabletop is a challenging one, as the lack of a dungeon master that can respond naturally to improvisation means that the game has to account for a surplus of scenarios ahead of time. Many of 's biggest failures to manage this are all tied to the same mechanic that feels like it has a uniquely incomplete implementation.

There are many purported cures for the tadpole parasites that plague the party in , and one of those is the bard Volo's experimental surgery. Players are liable to first meet Volo in the Emerald Grove, where he's interviewing a druid in Wild Shape about the recent goblin-tiefling conflicts. He twists their words to craft an exaggerated account of their recent battle, before disappearing from the grove. As it turns out, Volo's been kidnapped by goblins and forced to perform odes to their leader Dror Ragzlin. The party needs to rescue him if they want to see more of the blustering bard.

Although these choices can be diplomatic in nature, some of the game's NPCs are better off dead — both for the player's experience and, in some cases, the overall narrative. This ingredient acts as a compass that leads you and your party to a place with new quests, powerful items, and terrifying bosses. You'll have to endure a challenging fight in the Underdark to obtain the Shard from another figure looking for the Forge.

Amulets and Rings are magic items you can equip to party members in to give them special abilities or passive traits that help them best during intense combat encounters. Accessories are found all over each Act of the game, ranging from uncommon effects to legendary attributes. Some of these items even let you cast spells that characters wouldn't gain access to as they level up.

Although the ways in which maintains interest and variety may not always be immediately obvious while playing it, stepping back to think about its design reveals just how smart it really is.

Whether they're related to opening doors, completing quests, or just getting a little extra loot, punishing trials often stand between the party and whatever it is they want. While these are most often combat challenges, in battles against bloodthirsty goblins or well-equipped Flaming Fists, sometimes these obstacles challenge brain instead of brawn.

There are several enemies to face throughout , and of the optional bosses players will encounter, Ansur The Dragon is one of the most fun and intimidating in the game. Finding him may be a challenging task since he is an optional boss.

One of the hardest boss fights that players will encounter is Lord Enver Gortash.
