Commander Zhalk is the tutorial boss of . Defeating him is entirely optional, but it does yield great rewards. This includes enough experience points to reach level 2 and one of the best greatswords for most of the main story.
Even though it is early on in the game, be sure to use dedicated “hard” saves before and during the fight. Unlike quick saves, this allows you to reload during different parts of the action. Dubbed “save scumming“ by the community after LucasArts’ decades-old SCUMM game engine, Larian fully intends for players to reload to gain new results.
Defeating Zhalk in can significantly depend on your initial team composition. Even if playing as a primary caster or healer, the main character, Tav, should contribute some damage with either spells or weapons. This can be in the form of helpful Cantrips, melee attacks, or ranged weapons. Additionally, all of the custom party members will be added in the multiplayer, giving superior numbers. However, with more human players, everyone will be fighting over the dropped rewards.
Outside of the player character(s), you will always have Lae’zel on the team. It is also highly recommended that you recruit Shadowheart to help fight Commander Zhalk. Finally, you should also save the Brain Pet named Us. While they only deal some damage, Us can activate switches to progress cutscenes or heal the party.
If you've picked Lae’zel as your origin character, you will get another temporary companion, Losiir. He is another Githyanki Fighter, making him mostly a carbon copy of Lae’zel.
As you go to the bridge, you will find Commander Zhalk and his minions fighting with a Mindflayer. This Illithid will be a temporary ally as long as Zhalk is still alive but will become hostile even if other foes remain. You want to help support him and ensure both parties die in succession.
You want to kill the weaker enemies with single strong attacks. This includes both the initial group at the door and the second one closer to the main console. Once this group is dead, you can sit Us near the controls in case time starts to run out. They will always leave at the end of the tutorial, but Us can be found again in's Act 2.
Let the Mindflayer deal most of the damage to Zhalk. Help support the Mindflayer with buffs like Shield of Faith or Inspiration. You can also fully disarm Zhalk with the Cleric spell Command, lowering his overall damage. You want to balance out both Commander Zhalk and the Mindflayer’s hit points, so both can be killed by one of your team’s turns — around 20 or fewer hit points. Attack either side and heal the Mindflayer accordingly. As noted, save during this encounter and reload if either enemy becomes weaker than the other.

Stop for a second and picture your favorite video game developer or publisher. It doesn’t matter their “scale” as long as they’re prominent. More than likely, you can name-drop at least one or two people who are the “faces” of that company. For example, Nintendo has Eiji Aonuma, Shigeru Miyamoto, Doug Bowser, etc. Microsoft has Phil Spencer, Sony has/had Jim Ryan, and on it goes. For Bethesda, they have/had many people who have helped define them over the years for one reason or another. Easily, the one that most people know is Todd Howard. He’s the guy who honestly makes the biggest announcements for the company and helps crank out their best games.
If Todd Howard up and left Bethesda, it would "leave a big hole," says Skyrim's lead designer, insisting that the Starfield director has "an attribute that none of the rest of us did."
Liked Starfield? Hated Starfield? You probably have Todd Howard to thank. A recent chat between MinnMax and Skyrim lead designer Bruce Nesmith shed some light on Bethesda's structure and organisation, and it sure sounds like pretty much every choice the company makes needs Howard's stamp of approval before it can go ahead, even as it's grown bigger over the years. To be fair to Howard, though, it seems like that's in spite of his own wishes.
The Fallout TV series finally has a release date. In a tweet, Amazon Prime Video confirmed that the live-action adaptation of the eponymous Bethesda video game franchise will premiere April 12, 2024, exclusively on the streamer. The news comes in celebration of the annual Fallout Day — October 23 — which marks the day when the retro-futuristic in-game world was turned into a nuclear wasteland, causing survivors to scavenge and live off irradiated junk. HBO's Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are developing the series under their Kilter Films banner — billed as an original story set in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles and will be included as Fallout universe canon.
It's been five years since Todd Howard revealed the startling news that yes, Bethesda is going to make The Elder Scrolls 6, and it will be years yet before it actually arrives. It's a virtually unprecedented gap between a game's «announcement» (such as it was) and tangible evidence that something's being done to make it happen, and Howard himself said not too long ago that he regrets handling the reveal the way he did. The obvious question then is, why announce it at all? According to longtime Bethesda designer Bruce Nesmith, the fans basically bullied him into it.
Mister Negative returns to the series in , as one of the early bosses that Miles faces. One of the main villains in the first game, Martin Li is back as Mister Negative for this installment. Miles is featured as part of the story in and is forever intertwined with Li, making it an obvious battle for the younger Spider to face. It is one of the most powerful parts of the story taking place at Kraven's facility, with Miles having been locked up.
Todd Howard reportedly told Bethesda executives that a multiplayer game would be "a bad idea" on several occasions - before pressure from fans eventually encouraged him to make Fallout 76.
Yesterday, the Fallout TV show received the official air date. The TV series will debut on April 12, 2024 via Amazon's Prime Video.
