Palworld is heading in a totally different direction, as Pocket Pair has revealed a new PvP mode called The Arena. Also, that date announced during the Triple-i Initiative? Apparently it was a mistake.

Pocketpair has teased plans to release a big Palworld update this summer, ahead of the game’s Arena mode later in the year.

finally unveiled players' first look at the long-awaited Arena mode that will allow Trainers to battle it out by sending their team of Pals into the fray. While the game mode had already been announced in Pocket Pair's roadmap for the open-world survival game, the studio parted the curtain on how it'll function, spotlighting a system that, as can be expected, looks very similar to. Given that combat already plays a major role in 's core gameplay loop, the decision to add in an Arena mode simply feels like an extension of the already-existing mechanics.

Roughly a week after releasing its first raid boss in Palworld, Pocketpair appeared during the Triple-i Initiative showcase to tease the next big update. It’s the Arena, where players can battle each other’s Pals in a fight to the figurative death. Thankfully, players won’t have to wait too long, as the Arena will launch this year.

Palworld is arguably 2024's most popular indie title at the moment, having exploded onto the scene earlier this year, bringing in millions upon millions of players in just a couple of weeks. That is despite the game being pretty barebones in terms of features, which is understandable given it's still in Early Access, but developer Pocket Pair seems to be doing its best to give its fans something to do.

Palworld has been keeping the updates and teasing coming as they now have been teasing yet another big feature coming to the game later this year. Recently, they just added raids to the game, while players are having a good time defeating the raids, they aren’t able to keep the Pal that they defeat sadly enough.

Developer Pocketpair has officially confirmed that the Palworld PvP arena will be added to the open world survival game this summer. Pocketpair had teased fans that it would have a presence at the recent Triple-I event, and so many likely tuned in to get their best glimpse at Palworld PvP action to date.

A couple of months ago, we learned that Raven Software lead designer Michael Gummelt had worked on a live service Call Of Duty zombies game before it got cancelled. Details were practically non-existent at the time, but YouTuber Glitching Queen recently interviewed Gummelt about what the game could've become. Fun surprises: It would've been a free-to-play live service game featuring coliseum battles. Unsurprises: microtransactions, seasons, general background shenanigans between Treyarch and Raven.

Broadly speaking, when you play Magic: The Gathering via its digital incarnation in Arena, you choose a format to decide whether you want to play with just new cards (Standard), a mix of new and old cards (Historic), or a mix of new and old cards but none older than the popular Return to Ravnica block (Explorer). There are other formats like Brawl, which lets you add more players, or Alchemy, which includes digital-only cards, but if you want to play a traditional one-on-one game of constructed Magic in Arena just like you would at the table, those are the three formats you pick from.

Battlestate Games announced that the Escape From Tarkov: Arena closed beta is now live, with invites going out for players today… The long-awaited chaotic multiplayer shooter invites are being sent out in waves, so those who have signed up might be able to dive right in.

Now, roughly a month later, First Strike Games has announced Rocket Arena will be sunset and its servers shut down in March. 

Bandai Namco has announced that the Budokai Tenkaichi game it had announced back in October is titled Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero. The game was unveiled with a new trailer during The Game Awards 2023, and much like its predecessors, will have an emphasis on creating epic one-on-one fights from its source material in the manga and anime.

Black Desert Online has opened up a new Arsha: Anonymous server (alongside the original Arsha server) in its latest update. The update also brings events, balance changes, improves Black Shrine bosses, and adds thepromised Arena of Solare custom matches.

Magic: The Gathering Arena is introducing a new nonrotating format called Timeless on December 12, in which all cards are playable, even the new fetch lands from Khans of Tarkir.

Developed by Final Strike Games and published by EA, Rocket Arena was a 3vs3 arena shooter launched in 2020 and was really rather good. While the name had gamers of a certain age wistfully thinking of Quake fragfests, the experience was more mellow and akin to something like Super Smash Bros., all about controlling space and forcing your opponent out of bounds rather than just endless gibbing.

Rocket Arena, the third-person hero shooter published in 2020 by EA, has been removed from sale without much warning. So far neither EA or developers Final Strike Games have given a reason for the delisting, but you can no longer buy it from its Steam or EA store pages.

Legends of Azeroth do battle in an action strategy title as Blizzard finally brings the big guns to mobile with Warcraft Rumble. Blizzard Entertainment’s money-making behemoth will finally appear on mobile platforms at Blizzcon on November 3rd, 2023. The fast-paced action strategy promises players a chance to form armies to take on familiar bosses, dungeons and even other players from 5 different factions in the Warcraft universe. Built from the ground up for mobile platforms, players can collect “minis” of their favorite heroes from both the horde and the alliance to battle alongside their own personal death squads. Blizzard promises a deep solo campaign with strategic puzzles, a fully fleshed PvP system, and even dungeons with challenging boss fights for veterans and new players alike. The executive producer of Warcraft Rumble, Vik Saraf, said, “We’re confident that whether you’re new to the Warcraft universe or a long-time veteran, you’ll find the perfect army to unleash your brand of joyful chaos!”

Arena Breakout season 2: Battle for the Port is right around the corner, and it’s bringing with it a wealth of new content. This includes a brand new map, a ton of weapons, and a new mode to battle through.

Escape from Tarkov is a game that makes you feel amazing if you win, and awful if you lose. You're likely to feel terrible again and again if you play it, but the thrill when everything goes right makes up for all of that. And while it's hard to beat that feeling of pleasure, I imagine I'm not the only person who played Tarkov and felt the pain of its hardcore difficulty. Escape from Tarkov: Arena seems like a game that even these kinds of players can jump in and enjoy. Arena retains the original Tarkov's hardcore shootouts while being a fast-paced and much more easily-digested team shooter.

Nightmare Corridor is the most challenging mode within AFK Arena that pushes players’ tactical skills and team-building abilities to the limit. Needless to say, you need to have your strongest team on the table to complete the challenge. Furthermore, the characters you pick need to synergize efficiently, so you must place a proper strategy. Escape from Tarkov’s standalone session-based multiplayer FPS project, Escape from Tarkov: Arena, is now available to preorder via its newly launched website.
