RuneScape’s venture into the tabletop gaming era is here, as RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg, the new board game, and RuneScape Kingdoms: The Roleplaying Game, have both launched.

Award-winning board game designer Eric Lang, whose Viking-themed Blood Rage is a fixture on Polygon’s list of the best modern board games, has something new to share — a tile-laying strategy game called Life in Reterra. This time, instead of partnering with hot young publishers like CMON or Steamforged Games, he and co-designer Ken Gruhl (Happy Salmon) have gone with the granddaddy of them all, 100-year-old Hasbro. And while we don’t know everything yet about how the game works yet, we do know Lang himself considers it among his “strongest designs ever,” and that’s enough right there to get me interested.

Sony is the latest company in the video game industry to announce massive layoffs in 2024. We’ve learned that Sony Interactive Entertainment is letting go of about 900 people across several studios; PlayStation’s London Studio will shut down as a result.

As it lays off around 900 people across Sony's stable of studios, including cuts at Naughty Dog, Insomniac, and the entirety of now-defunct PlayStation London, PlayStation Studios is also canning multiple unannounced projects. 

The developers of Tekken 8 recently explained the decision to include an in-game shop and microtransactions amid the pushback it received. Tekken 8 launched back in January, getting rave reviews and critical acclaim. Much of the praise was given to its plot, the gameplay, and the realistic and dynamic visuals. This has resulted in Tekken 8 becoming one of the best-selling games in the franchise, and it is poised to get post-launch DLC with brand-new fighters, like the fan favorite Eddy Gordo.

GameGenic is making some of the best components for Collectable Card Games (CCGs) and their most recent partnership with Star Wars Unlimited has me very excited. I love branded products for CCGs – the deck boxes and card sleeves for Disney Lorcana, for example, aren’t the greatest things I’ve ever used, but I like them none-the-less. Today, NVIDIA announced and released the brand new eponymous app that aims to unify the functions of GeForce Experience and the old Control Panel under a new, sleeker hood.

With Diablo 4 becoming the first Activision Blizzard game to launch for Game Pass on March 28th, the door is seemingly open for other titles to follow. Speaking to Game File’s Stephen Totilo, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said the company intends that “the full portfolio of games from ZeniMax, Activision Blizzard and XGS – Xbox Game Studios – will be on Game Pass, day one.”
