Alina of the Arena for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch launches November 23

Cooperative platformer River Tails: Stronger Together will leave Early Access and launch for PC via Steam on December 14, publisher Gravity Game Arise and developer Kid Onion Studio announced. Console versions will follow at a later date.

Whenever a new movie prequel is announced, even the core audience that loved the original work sometimes responds with a resounding ugh. Who can blame anyone for dismissing out of hand the marketing formulation that gave us 2007’s Hannibal Rising, 1979’s Butch and Sundance: The Early Days, or 2004’s Exorcist: The Beginning? Prequels tell stories where the end has been predetermined, often without beloved key actors, prompting unflattering comparisons to inimitable classics. (Like what happened with the Star Wars prequel movies.)

Multiplayer extraction shooter HAWKED will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam and MY.GAMES Launcher on November 30, publisher and developer MY.GAMES announced. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions will follow in early 2024.

Arma Reforger has left Early Access and is now available for Xbox Series and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store, developer Bohemia Interactive announced.

The Switch version of physics-based sports game Toasterball will launch via Nintendo eShop on November 30 for $9.99, developer Les Crafteurs announced.

Roguelike management game Backpack Hero has left Early Access and is now available for Switch and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Itch.io at a launch discount price of $16.99, publisher and developer Jaspel, and publishers IndieArk and Different Tales announced. The price will change to $19.99 on November 22.

Cozy mining adventure game Core Keeper will leave Early Access and launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam in summer 2024, publisher Fireshine Games and developer Pugstorm announced.

Cross Blitz, an RPG deckbuilder featuring strategic turn-based combat and a standalone roguelite-style mode, will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam on November 29, publisher The Arcade Crew and developer Tako Boy Studios announced.

Publisher Funcom and developer Shiro Games will release real-time strategy game Dune: Spice Wars for Xbox Series on November 28, the companies announced. It will also be available via Xbox Game Pass.

brought back an enduringly popular figure from the previous games in the series, but it did so only to almost immediately kill him off in one of the most unbearably emotional scenes in the entire game. weaves a dramatic narrative with numerous characters, and though this tug at the heartstrings of long-time fans of the series is quite cheap, it is devastatingly effective. Ultimately, brought back one character for no reason but to die — their death is not narratively important, nor does their death present a lingering point of conflict.
