The Escape from Tarkov universe is expanding with the release of a new spin-off, Escape from Tarkov Arena. The game doesn't have a release date yet, but we do know it will not have any microtransactions.
Nikita Buyanov, studio boss at Battlestate Games, told GameSpot in simple terms that Arena will have «no microtransactions for sure.» He went on to say that there will be no pay-to-win elements either. «We are against that,» Buyanov said.

Now Playing: Escape From Tarkov: Arena — Hands On Impressions | Gamescom 2023
He went on to say that Battlestate is considering adopting a seasonal approach for Arena where more content and updates are released over time. And like other games of that ilk, there could be battle passes in Arena, but nothing is certain yet, Buyanov explained.
Escape from Tarkov is a PvPvE game known for being aimed at hardcore players who want to invest time and energy into learning its many systems. The game's structure and features might not appeal to everyone, and that's where Arena comes in.
«I think Arena will make the [Escape from Tarkov] universe more whole,» Buyanov said. «People will play Escape from Tarkov and then Arena. It will be a good addition. I think they will live together. I think the audience could be big because literally everybody will have an option to play it, and it will not be [as]hard to play as EFT itself…»
Arena is reportedly eyeing an early December release for its beta test, but Battlestate has not yet announced specifics. While we wait, you can check out GameSpot's hands-on impressions of the game from Gamescom in the video above.
You can preorder Arena now for $35. Doing so gets you early access to a closed beta test and other bonuses. People who buy the Escape from Tarkov: Edge of Darkness edition get into the Arena test at no extra cost.

A small research group recently examined the performance of 25 AI 'people', using two large language models created by OpenAI, in an online Turing test. None of the AI bots ultimately passed the test, but all the GPT 3.5 ones were so bad that a chatbot from the mid-1960s was nearly twice as successful as passing off as a human. Mostly because real people didn't believe it was really AI.
Blizzard really, really wants you to know Diablo 4 isn't going to add any pay-to-win elements. In fact, the ARPG's lead developers are so keen on making that point clear that they repeated it no less than six times during a recent livestream.
The PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted is here to spotlight our most anticipated games of 2024 and beyond, but not everything in the show today is far off. It's free-to-play, sports a massive map out of the gate, and seems more focused on quick, simple fun than laborious looting.

Destiny 2 has waved goodbye to one of its most controversial starter packs just a day after the new season begins.
Just one day after the launch of Season of the Wish, Bungie has removed a $15 "starter pack" microtransaction for Destiny 2 that quickly became the subject of criticism and backlash over pay-to-win concerns.
Shortly after it released the Starter Pack for Destiny 2, Bungie has now pulled the pack from sale. The company made the decision to pull the Starter Pack from sale due to concerns raised by the Destiny 2 community, which accused the Starter Pack of being a pay-to-win bundle.

Bad Toys 3D is described by publisher Tibo Software as «a 3D first-person shooter with funny graphics and sounds.» Originally released in 1995, it's a simplistic Wolfenstein 3D knockoff that sees you exploring flat mazes of Windows screensaver-like brick walls, blasting purple pom-pom monsters with pistols and shotguns. «THE FACTORY FOR TOYS HAS BEEN BOUGHT BY THE COMPANY DELTA MILITARY SYSTEMS RECENTLY,» reads the game's blurb. «NOW IT IS OUT OF CONTROL. Earlier this month, at least nine political leaders from opposition parties received a shocking alert on their iPhones warning them of "state-sponsored attackers trying to remotely compromise” their device. It raised an alarm among leaders as they posted screenshots of the alerts on their X accounts, seeking clarification for the same. Eventually, nothing came of the iPhone threat notifications, and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-in, under the department of MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology), issued a show cause notice to Apple. As per reports, a team of cyber security executives from Apple are expected to meet with the agency.
