With the release of the Cataclysm Classic pre-patch, players can now take advantage of the Reforging system! Gotta go fast? Speed fiends might be interested to discover that there's a new bag in The War Within Alpha that increases movement speed in outdoor areas of Khaz Algar! While increasing outdoor movement speed in a specific area of the expansion isn't a particularly important bonus, Arathor Courier's Satchel stands out as the first of its kind — no other bag in WoW has had this kind of statistical effect, and it could be a test case for more varied bag bonuses going forward. Although it is unlikely that we'll see universal combat enhancements like increased strength, critical strike chance, or damage procs, there are a number of other minor supplementary effects or effects that only work in specific areas of the game, like an excavators satchel increasing capabilities in Delves.

Players are diving into new Enchants coming with The War Within, and we're highlighting some of the most anticipated: the Weapon Enchants! This new batch of Weapon Enchantments seems to aim for an overall simpler tone than some of those from Dragonflight, such as Enchant Weapon — Spore Tender or Enchant Weapon — Shadowflame Wreathe. While focusing mainly on increasing Secondary stats such as Haste or Critical Strike, a few standout Enchantments such as Enchant Weapon — Authority of the Depths still maintain unique effects that are sure to create interesting interactions in theorycrafting and simming for many players.

One of the new zones introduced in the War Within, the gorgeous and expansive Hallowfall, has a beautiful yet ominous zone feature. The zone, like many zones in the War Within, is subterranean and is lit by a vast crystal stalactite which glows like sunlight.

Blizzard has been hard at work implementing learnings from the first PTR of Diablo 4, analyzing feedback from players, and making tweaks and changes wherever they can. The recent Developer Livestream highlighted some of the changes that will be present at the launch of Diablo 4's Season of Loot Reborn.

In today's Developer Livestream, Blizzard explained how the Armor stat currently works in Season 3, as well as the changes developers are making for Season 4. The thinking behind this change is to balance out how players are experiencing defensives in top-end play and reduce the mystery involved in one-shot deaths players experience. In a hotfix earlier this week, Blizzard announced that the Darkmoon Faire will not be coming to town during the Cataclysm Classic Pre-Patch. Instead, the event will make a return sometime after launch.

With Diablo 4 Season 4, the Gambling system will receive massive changes, allowing players to gamble on «the best items in the game», according to Blizzard. During their Developer Livestream for Diablo 4's upcoming season, the development team stated that Level 100 characters will receive only Item Level 925 items while gambling. Season 4: Loot Reborn — Developer Update Summary Essentially, this means that players will be able to gamble into Legendary items with up to three Greater Affixes, which, besides Unique items with up to four Greater Affixes, will be the best items to wear in the game by far.

After much consideration, the Season of Discovery team has determined that the populations of the Lava Lash (US), Lava Lash (EU), and Chaos Bolt (EU) servers are too low. In order to create healthier communities, Blizzard is closing these realms to new accounts and opening transfers to other realms. Players currently on these realms will have the option to transfer to the Wild Growth PvE or Crusader Strike RP-PvP servers of their respective regions.

We've datamined a handful of new Earthen tools and ornate jeweled weapon models in this week's update for The War Within Alpha! While the tools appear to be fairly basic farm and mining implements, the weapons are similar in style to many of the Earthen weapon and armor models found in last week's build.

The Hallowfall questline is available for testing on the alpha this week. At this stage, cutscenes are described rather than shown — and the description of a scene at the end of the zone's storyline is particularly interesting… and concerning.

The Season 4: Loot Reborn, Developer Update Livestream this week highlighted several upcoming changes to Diablo 4's Seasonal Journey, and possibly one of the most exciting is the addition of a new reward system reminiscent of Diablo 3's Seasonal Reward Caches. Starting in Season 4, players tackling their Seasonal Journey will periodically receive class-specific Legendary Item Caches while progressing through the Seasonal Campaign. These rewards will include curated Legendary Items tailored toward specific builds that will help players live out iconic class fantasies with their fresh Seasonal Characters. In Season 4, players will receive gear for the following builds.

As some of you may have already seen in your own raid groups, Paladins were able to capitalize on an unintended interaction between Seal of Righteousness, Seals of Command, and the Tiny Abomination in a Jar trinket after the Cataclysm Classic pre-patch launched. This allowed Paladins to deal unfathomable amounts of damage, to the point where the number calculations would often freeze or crash the game. While this isn't the only bug that the pre-patch launched with, the Seals of Command bug was quite literally game-breaking, both in terms of causing performance issues when triggered, as well as completely trivializing content (with some Paladins even going as far as being able to solo mobs in Icecrown Citadel).With the bug already fixed by Blizzard, we wanted to break down exactly how it functioned, and what the cause of it was.

In an attempt to address this, Salvaging Legendary items will now grant the same amount of Veiled Crystal as Rare items.

Blizzard has updated their «Known Issues» list for Cataclysm Classic. These issues include Death Knight's Blood Presence and Frost Presence not working as intended, Heroic Burning Crusade dungeons deactivated, and the PvP Resilience stat not working.

Blizzard is aware of an issue that is limiting players from progressing their Archaeology profession, and they are working on a fix. We had to approach this issue in two steps. First, we fixed the bug a couple of days ago, so that it won’t happen to players who max their Archaeology.Second, we’re working on a fix for players who hit that point before the first hotfix.

Blizzard has released a Hotfix for Cataclysm Classic which resolved an issue that prevented Bloodlust and Heroism from working, corrected heal-over-time and damage-over-time ticks, and extended The Children's Week holiday for one week.

In the latest Alpha build, we've datamined datamined the unique model of Harronir Orweyna suggesting she might be a major lore figure that we'll interact with in future zones. While we haven't encountered the Harronir in The War Within thus far, we did previously highlight the overwhelming number of customization options of this potential Allied Race in the initial Alpha build. In their most recent Developer Livestream, Blizzard has confirmed that after overwhelming PTR feedback, players will be able to see Greater Item Affixes on dropped gear — before even picking it up! Blizzard is aware of a bug that is not allowing the PvP Resilience stat to work properly in Cataclysm Classic. This issue will be resolved as a part of scheduled maintenance on May 7th.

In The War Within, Engineers will be able to craft Potion Bombs, powerful external potion buffs that augment small groups of players within range. These Potion Bombs currently come in three different types: DPS, Movement Speed, and Healing. Using a Potion Bomb is simple — use it as you would any other consumable, choose your target area, and buff your allies while damaging enemies caught in the radius. While Engineers are the only ones able to produce these new support consumables, anyone — even non-Engineers — can use them to help their group. Blizzard has updated their hotfix notes with today's hotfixes. These include fixing Smoldering Frenzy to allow it to proc Seal of Diurna’s Chosen, nerfs to Doragosa in Algeth'ar Academy, and fixes to Bullion items not being able to be upgraded or socketed.

Blizzard has released hotfixes for Cataclysm Classic, including fixes for a Children's Week quest as well as fixing how Mages' Ignite interacts with other spells.

Blizzard has posted additional developer commentary explaining some of the new Warrior changes in this week's Alpha build for The War Within, from redefining Arms AoE rotation, to punching up Fury's Bloodthirst, and major buffs for Bladestorm! There are a few Warrior updates in today’s Alpha build. After giving Arms and Fury access to both Bladestorm and Ravager, it was clear that Ravager had strong advantages in all situations. We’d like Bladestorm to be a strong pick for burst AOE, so we’re buffing its damage significantly, and reducing Ravager’s damage slightly. This should help make the choice between these abilities more meaningful and let each ability shine in different situations. Arms We’ve heard the feedback that the Arms AOE rotation lacks definition, so we’re making adjustments to Cleave to make it the centerpiece of Arms’ AOE rotation in The War Within.
