Every so often a new game surfaces that aims to be a successor to classic, stylish, mid-'90s antigrav racer Wipeout. Released back in 2018, BallisticNG was among the better attempts, managing to capture the speed and a little of the style while hewing close to the chunky polgyonal style of the PlayStation 1-era original.

I was just pondering writing something about Subnautica, inspired by revelations that there’s a new Subnautica project on the boil, and along comes the decidedly Subnautica-esque Honeycomb: The World Beyond with a trailer. Developed by Polish team Frozen Way, whose other projects include, erm, Hairdresser Simulator, it casts you as Hennessy, a human xenobiologist who is starting afresh on the alien planet of Sota7.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 won’t release until the second half of 2024, it’s been confirmed in an update by Focus Entertment’s for investors. A release date will be announced sometime in ‘early December’, most likely at The Game Awards.

Space Marine 2 is a long-awaited sequel to the 2011 action title set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, but it looks like fans are going to have to wait a little longer. Focus Entertainment has announced that the game has been delayed until the second half of 2024. The delay will “provide the time needed to properly polish the game and to ensure the best possible experience.”

I have a long history of playingVampire: The Masquerade games, from the tabletop RPG and LARP to video games. While  Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice  on the Quest 3 is not what I expected, I have still had fun navigating the moonlit streets of Venice as the vampire Justice to solve the mystery of my Sire’s disappearance. There are no character creation options here except for being male or female. Developer Fast Travel Games has created a good stealth game, and make no mistake, this is a stealth-based RPG. Unfortunately, it’s marred by a lack of polish and certain weak gameplay elements.

Previously given a release window of this Winter, Embracer Group – parent company of Saber Interactive, the game’s developer – had said earlier in the year the game was expected to release sometime before April 2024, though publisher Focus Entertainment has now announced a delay.

The Witcher series hasn't been doing too well in recent years, routinely angering fans by straying too far from the source material, putting little effort into CGI and costumes, and replacing Geralt of Rivia actor Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth for future seasons. Mystical dark-fantasy RPG The Thaumaturge has been delayed into next year, as its developers say they’ll need until February to polish up the story-driven game to the standards they’re aiming for.

Publisher 11 bit studios and developer Fool’s Theory have delayed narrative RPG The Thaumaturge from its previously planned December 5 release date to February 20, 2024. It will be available for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series at a later date.

Lies of P publisher Neowiz has acquired a 21 percent stake in BLANK., the Polish game studio founded in early 2023 by former CD Projekt RED developers Mateusz Kanik, Mikolaj Marchewka, Jedrzej Mroz, and Marcin Jefimow. Neowiz invested $17 million to acquire the stake.

Warner Bros. will be heavily veering into a live service model for its future games. EA Sports UFC 5 has been out for a while and is available for 10 hours for those with an EA Play subscription on either Xbox Series consoles or the PS5. While the core gameplay has seen some tuning up from the prior entry, one thing we have never seen before is the inclusion of this many early versions of fighters. UFC Undisputed 3 had UFC and earlier PRIDE versions of some fighters – but certainly not to this extent. The first season of Origins versions of fighters has now launched with eight fighters getting new virtual incarnations based on key early moments in their careers.

Today, AMD announced a new partnership with Polish game developer and publisher 11 bit (This War of Mine, Frostpunk). AMD will become the studio's technological partner, providing support on all of the future games developed and/or published by 11 bit, such as Frostpunk 2, The Alters, The Invincible (out next Monday), The Thaumaturge (out December 5), Codename Project 8, and more unannounced titles. The tech partnership will work across various devices powered by AMD technology: desktop PCs, laptops, handhelds, and consoles.
