She also serves as a powerful figure involved in undercurrents of resistance in Baghdad, standing up for the oppressed and unheard in a city where staggering splendor and cultural advancements could cover up or even exacerbate the plight of the less fortunate.

But then Assassin’s Creed Origins changed up the formula a bit. Assassin’s Creed became an open-world game, with more similarities to Far Cry than the original Assassin’s Creed games. The next two entries in the franchise, Odyssey and Valhalla, built upon that formula. With Valhalla, it felt like the combat had finally reached its peak, but something was lost along the way. It no longer felt like Assassin’s Creed. In fact, Valhalla often discouraged you from taking the stealth route.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is prepping to release this week, and before that, we've received global launch timings for the same. Ubisoft tweeted an infographic listing different timezones that point toward a staggered release — meaning the game unlocks at different times across the world. The stealth action game from Ubisoft Bordeaux is singularly engaging and refreshing in its constricted scope; still, tiresome trends from the series at large return, making key components of its story vapid distractions from its true strengths. While is clearly built upon the back of 2020's, that foundation has been morphed into an experience heavily reminiscent of the original from 2007. is a more than worthwhile entry to the long-running saga in its own right, but it also shows that the original vision of the series still has immense potential.

To hype up its imminent launch, Ubisoft recently released a new trailer to offer another glimpse at what the game will have in store, and now, it’s also been revealed when its reviews will go live.

Leading up to the October 5 release date for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft has released a launch trailer for the title featuring music by OneRepublic and Mishaal Tamer. The trailer gives us a look at Baghdad as the game’s primary setting, while also showcasing the assassination prowess of protagonist Basim. Check it out below.

The next game was unveiled to take players to 9th-century Baghdad, where we will follow Basim Ibn Ishaq in his journey of becoming a member of the Assassin Brotherhood. While the game was initially set to release later in the month of October, the developers managed to get this game done ahead of schedule. Assassin's Creed Mirage brings players to Baghdad in 861, during its Golden Age when it was the cultural and technological epicenter of the region. The city feels alive with merchants, townsfolk, guards, palaces, and more. It's vibrant, lively, and, well, looks and sounds like a city. It's painted with hues of desert orange and «Arabian Nights» blue skies, something intentional, according to artistic director Jean-Luc Sala. 

A couple of days back, the system requirements for Assassin's Creed Mirage were revealed. The recommended requirements are quite reasonable, with pretty much any six-core CPU and GTX 1660 Ti / RX 5600 XT tier graphics card able to run the game at 60 FPS and 1080p with high settings.

Unlike the norm with AAA PC games these days, this ninth-century Baghdad-set title appears to be rather forgiving on hardware, essentially going back an entire graphics generation. Running the game on Ultra settings does not require AMD's latest 7000 or Nvidia's 40 series cards. That said, the accompanying ‘PC Features' trailer shows Intel as its official partner, assuring that it's been optimised for the Arc GPUs and the respective 13th-Gen processors. This feels like a weird choice since it's not a really popular graphics card in the PC gaming community.

Prior to joining RPS and coming into a possession of an Actual Contemporary Gaming PC, I did all my gaming on a plucky Erazer laptop from circa 2014. To say I've taken a stab at the Assassin’s Creed franchise would be quite the understatement. An understabment. I took my oaths in 2007, at the altar of Altaïr. With the past few games in the series it's felt like Assassin’s Creed has lost a little bit of what made it so special back when it launched in the late 2000’s. Don’t get me wrong: Odyssey and Valhalla were extremely solid RPGs that offered a vast and unique setting and a definite bang for your buck in the runtime department, but there’s something about those games that didn’t necessarily feel necessarily “Assassin’s Creed” due to their hefty open-world settings and heavy RPG gameplay mechanics. Thankfully, the next installment in the franchise is Mirage, and based on my playtime with it so far, it manages to capture what made the series so special and brings the social stealth history simulator back to its roots in the best way possible.
