The prodigal Prince has returned, and his comeback has gone down so well that he is doing it a second time. After his Metroidvania adventures in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which came out in January, gaming's iconic dual-blade wielding royalty is coming back for seconds in The Rogue Prince of Persia, a new 2D action-platforming rogue-lite title, arriving in Early Access on Steam on May 14. Developed by Dead Cells maker Evil Empire and published by Ubisoft, the next Prince of Persia game flaunts a colourful, cartoony art style and features platforming and action combat familiar to the series.

Publisher Ubisoft and developer Evil Empire have announced The Rogue Prince of Persia for PC (Steam). It will launch in Early Access on My 14.

Loric Games has announced its debut title, Echoes of Elysium, an airship survival RPG “set in the heavens of mythical ancient Greece”.

Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play, third-person team shooter where two teams of six heroes and villains go head to head with each other in destructible arenas. With Final Fantasy 14 gearing up to release Dawntrail in the summer, some datamining of Patch 6.58 uncovered two items that may be associated with preorders of the anticipated expansion. 11 bit studios are best known for grim games like colony sim Frostpunk, which is all about trying to survive in a world battered by relentless blizzards. But their latest venture - created in partnership with developers Chibig and Inverge Studios, and co-written by Rhianna Pratchett - is drastically different. Titled Creatures Of Ava, it's a fantasy game about saving Pokémon-like creatures, as opposed to, well, imprisoning them and using them for labour (Palworld, I'm looking at you).

Supermassive Games have announced a period of consultation and reorganisation that will end in job losses, as the Until Dawn developers try "to ensure the continued sustainability of the company". In an upsetting confirmation that February is in fact winter (and that the year doesn't just start with summer like my brain thinks it should) publisher Whitethorn Games held a 2024 Winter Showcase, where they revealed the existance of a game that answers the question "what if the slimes in Slime Rancher were in mortal peril, and had swords?". The answer is apparently "be ruddy heroes in a cute Soulslike". I think this game, too, looks very cute, although Slime Heroes doesn't have a release window yet.

Publisher TBS Games and developer Three Rings have announced I am Adventure Boy: Ultimate Escape Island for Switch. It will launch in March in Japan.

There is no shortage of video game rumors and speculation pieces online. However, one that has started to gain attention as of late involves Bethesda. However, fans are starting to speculate that Bethesda might have a game that has yet to be unveiled. Best of all, it looks like this game project is supposedly set to release sometime this year. Details are nonexistent right now. But this all stems back to one social media post. 

2024 will be a busy year for Apple as various product upgrades are lined up. Last year, the company announced its Vision Pro headset alongside the 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2 chip. While the larger MacBook Air was released soon after its announcement, the Vision Pro headset is expected to launch in the first quarter of this year. Other than this, the company also announced new iPhone and Apple Watch models with significant upgrades. However, Apple did not upgrade iPad models, which could have impacted Apple's overall revenue.

Publisher Phoenixx and developer Happymeal, in cooperation with TBS, have announced detective adventure game Quiz Seikai wa Ichinengo presents Atsushi no Meitantei for Switch. It is available now via Nintendo eShop in Japan for 1,000 yen.

Earlier this week, Hasbro announced that it would be laying off approximately 1,100 employees two weeks before Christmas, as per an internal memo. At the time, I pointed out that the memo announced «the majority of the notifications will happen over the next six months, with the balance occurring over the next year.» While it doesn't directly contradict this statement, many layoffs are happening right now.

Hours after announcing that highly anticipated zombie survival game The Day Before was a financial failure and that developer Fntastic was shutting down, the controversial game has been pulled from sale on Steam. The Day Before launched last Thursday, just four days ago, on Valve’s storefront. Fntastic has also purged its YouTube channel of all videos of The Day Before, and CEO Eduard Gotovtsev has deleted his X profile.

Larian Studios just had a great night at The Game Awards, with Baldur's Gate 3 winning Game of the Year over some fierce competition. But just as fans started to celebrate, they were shocked to find that Baldur's Gate 3 had popped up on the Xbox store with no warning, completely ready to play on Xbox Series X/S.

Baldur's Gate 3's game director was meant to announce the Xbox version's release date last night at The Game Awards 2023, but he plum forgot.

Then you might enjoy the just-announced Exoborne, a tactical open world shooter from Sharkmob, the Swedish studio behind Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt. Running on Unreal Engine 5 and set in fictional, near-future Colton County, USA, it's a PvPvE affair in which you roam a big ruined map either alone or as a team, fighting other players, NPCs and renegade "natural" elements. Published by Level Infinite, it'll be a premium game with live service elements and microtransactions, and there's no release date yet. I caught a briefing before today's announcement, and yeah, it looks all right.

Bethesda Softworks, Arkane Studios Lyon, Marvel Games have announced Marvel’s Blade, a “mature, single-player, third-person game” with an original story based on the comic book hero Blade. Platforms and a release date were not announced. Development has only just begun.

Following the fascinating and horrifying co-op shooter GTFO, developers 10 Chambers today announced their second game, a cooperative sci-fi heist 'em up named Den Of Wolves. I don't want to encourage more publishers to create irrelevant, self-indulgent trailers for Geoff Keighley's Advertganza, but I'll cut Sega a break for their one. Sure, the first 52 seconds are some live-action skit, but the following 41 seconds announce no less than five games. Sega are returning to their glory days once again, with new games coming based on Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Streets Of Rage, Golden Axe, Shinobi, "and more."
