With the seven-star Blaziken Tera raids finished, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet revealed a new five-star Tera raid against two Paradox Pokemon to tide trainers over. Flutter Mane and Iron Jugulis will respectively be available for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to face, and each will bring their share of attacks to the fold.
The news of these five-star Tera raids came just after the battle against Blaziken the Unrivaled concluded. As the first new Tera raid battle of 2024, Blaziken was the first starter Pokemon from the Hoenn region to be featured in a seven-star raid. Though the fiery Pokemon was a formidable foe that could use several hard-hitting attacks, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players quickly developed strategies that allowed them to take down the Blaze Pokemon in a single strike. While it remains to be seen when the next seven-star Tera raid will arrive in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, trainers will have a different challenge to take on, depending on the version they are playing.
Starting on Thursday, January 25, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern, and ending on Sunday, January 28, at 6:59 p.m. Eastern, Pokemon Scarlet players will be able to face Flutter Mane in five-star Tera raid dens throughout the world. In Pokemon Violet, trainers will find Iron Jugulis instead. Both of these Paradox Pokemon will be level 75 and will have random Tera types. Outside of Tera raids, Flutter Mane is a Ghost and Fairy dual-type Pokemon, and Iron Jugulis has the Dark and Flying types. These Paradox Pokemon will have the respective abilities Protosynthesis and Quark Drive to bolster their stats, and both will have attacks that benefit from their original types.
The last time a Paradox Pokemon was featured in a Tera raid battle was on Christmas, as Pokemon trainers faced Iron Bundle the Unrivaled in a Seven-star Tera raid battle. As for these Paradox Pokemon, Flutter Mane has high special attack, special defense, and speed stats. But, Flutter Mane's HP and physical defense are low by comparison and can be exploited. Iron Jugulis may be a more formidable foe, as its defenses are more balanced and it has high special attack and speed stats. Pokemon trainers facing Flutter Mane can use special walls such as Blissey and Slowbro to take it on, regardless of most of the moves it could use. As for Iron Jugulis, Dark, Flying, and Electric attacks are the most common ones it can use, so players will need to adjust their strategies accordingly.
While both of these Paradox Pokemon can be found within Area Zero, the upcoming Tera raid battles will give Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers a chance to catch one with the Tera type they prefer. Only time will tell what The Pokemon Company will do in future raid battles.
