Following the January Paradox Tera raid event, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet confirmed that the next Seven-Star Tera Raid battle event would pit trainers against Empoleon the Unrivaled. Though starter Pokemon from the Sinnoh region can be caught in The Indigo Disk DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the raid marks the first time a Sinnoh starter has been featured as a Tera raid boss.
Known as the Emperor Pokemon, Empoleon is a Water and Steel dual-type that first appeared in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. As the fully evolved form of Piplup and Prinplup, Empoleon has a commanding presence in its design, and it has a variety of available moves it can use in a Pokemon battle, such as Wave Crash, Steel Beam, and Surf. While Water and Steel are an odd pair of types to manage together, Empoleon's high special attack and special defense statistics complement its types well. Though it is a slow Pokemon with a base speed stat of 60, that does not diminish the versatility that the Emperor Pokemon carries.
With the Paradox Tera raids running their course, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will soon see what Empoleon can do in a Seven-Star Tera Raid battle. The battle against Empoleon the Unrivaled will begin on Thursday, February 1, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, and end on Sunday, February 4 at 7:59 p.m. Eastern. A week later, Pokemon trainers who missed the first round of battles against Empoleon will have another chance, from February 8 to February 11. Empoleon the Unrivaled will have the Ice type as its Tera type, which will give attacks such as Ice Beam a boost on top of its Water and Steel moves.
Like other Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Seven-Star Tera Raid bosses, Empoleon the Unrivaled will also carry the Mightiest Mark, and it will have its Hidden Ability, called Competitive. This will raise its special attack stat by two stages each time its stats are lowered. Ergo, strategies involving moves such as Chilling Water and Acid Spray may not be as effective against Empoleon the Unrivaled. Given that its Tera type is Ice, there is a chance Empoleon could copy Inteleon the Unrivaled and use moves such as Snowscape and Mist at the onset of the battle.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players looking to take on Empoleon the Unrivaled will need to coordinate and bring a team focused on winning Tera raid battles. Only time will tell what strategies players will form in the days ahead.
Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet are the main entries in the series for Generation IX. They introduced over 100 new Pokemon and brought players to the Paldea region.

One Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player was recently amused to realize that The Indigo Disk's Savanna Plaza is shaped like a giant frying pan. While their observation qualifies as one of those things that cannot be unseen after being pointed out, it would appear that this neat little detail went unnoticed by many Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans up until recently.
Diablo 4 is getting a new update on February 14, and its major change involves how players interact with Uber Unique items in crafting. Uber Unique items drop very rarely in Diablo 4, but developer Blizzard has slowly been introducing more ways for players to acquire them.
Though two Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera raid battles are already scheduled throughout the middle of February, trainers will soon have more to do, as Stonjourner, Eiscue, Armarouge, and Ceruledge join the lineup. These upcoming Tera raid battles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will make these version-exclusive critters available to players regardless of the game played.

The Pokemon franchise has never really been known for coming anywhere close to pushing the envelope with its technical accomplishments, but recent years in particular have seen a number of the series’ mainline instalments being let down by the poor technical state they have launched in, from Pokmon Sword and Shield to Pokemon Legends: Arceus to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
