One Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player was recently amused to realize that The Indigo Disk's Savanna Plaza is shaped like a giant frying pan. While their observation qualifies as one of those things that cannot be unseen after being pointed out, it would appear that this neat little detail went unnoticed by many Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans up until recently.
The Indigo Disk is the second and final part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion for the newest mainline Pokemon games. Released in mid-December, the DLC pack added multiple new and returning series features to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, including a fresh take on the Safari Zone. Now called the Terarium Dome, this location has provided the fans of the franchise with yet another opportunity to catch a variety of pocket monsters within the confines of a special preserve.
Aside from its diverse fauna, the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Terarium also features a varied assortment of landmarks to behold, some of which boast more interesting designs than others. Reddit user Sausagewatericecube can attest to that fact, having just recently realized that the Savanna Plaza in the southern corner of the zone is shaped like a giant frying pan. Hundreds of people later voted to send their discovery to the front page of the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit, with that development signaling many fans had been unaware of this interesting detail—as obvious as it might appear—up until now.
The plaza's design is a possible reference to Crispin, a student of the Blueberry Academy introduced in the latest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC. Namely, Game Freak's design for this character includes a familiar-looking frying pan that is meant to reflect his expertise with Fire-type pocket monsters. The fact that a Fire Tera Shard can be found underneath the square is another strong indicator that the location's likeness to Crispin's frying pan was very much a deliberate choice.
Admiring the architectural novelty of the Savanna Plaza is far from the only reason to visit this Terarium location. The giant square also provides The Indigo Disk players with the easiest opportunity to obtain a Protector, a special evolution item required to evolve Rhydon into Rhyperior in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The front of the plaza also features two vending machines that sell dozens of useful items, while the location itself serves as the setting for one unique challenge that The Indigo Disk players are able to undertake.
