With Final Fantasy 14 gearing up to release Dawntrail in the summer, some datamining of Patch 6.58 uncovered two items that may be associated with preorders of the anticipated expansion. The Final Fantasy 14 items in question, Azeyma's Earrings, and the Wind-Up Zidane minion were listed as items added to the game with the latest content update.
The reveal of these items came at a busy time for Final Fantasy 14, between the launch of Patch 6.58 and the game's full release on Xbox Series X/S. While Final Fantasy 14 players will need to pay two subscriptions to play on Xbox systems, the initial launch period offered players some items as a bonus. These items are the Wind-up Palom minion, named after Final Fantasy 4's black mage, and Menphina's Earrings, which grant a 30% EXP buff until level 80. Both these items were available during the preorder window of Endwalker in 2021, so players who missed out on them will have another chance.
Though all rumors should be taken with a pinch of salt, some Final Fantasy 14 players have uncovered potential evidence of an imminent announcement. On Reddit, a user named NotSegar posted pictures of Azeyma's Earrings and the Wind-up Zidane minion on the r/ffxiv subreddit. These two items were part of a datamine that also uncovered what Final Fantasy 14 players can earn in the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 crossover event starting in early April, including Clive's Metian armor and a Torgal mount. While no release date was uncovered for either Dawntrail or the Final Fantasy 16 event in the datamine, both the new earrings and the minion line up with previous preorder offers from expansions such as Endwalker.
However,Final Fantasy 14 will have an opportunity to show more of Dawntrail soon. The panel will be at the convention's Main Theatre and will be streamed on Twitch and YouTube for fans around the world to watch. The day before that, on March 22, Yoshida will be part of a panel for Final Fantasy 16's second expansion, The Rising Tide.
If Dawntrail's release date is not revealed at PAX East, fans may have to wait a little longer for information, as Final Fantasy 14 will host a 14-hour broadcast starting on April 12 as part of the game's 10th anniversary. Only time will tell when Yoshida will give players the news they are waiting for.
Final Fantasy XIV's original release was less-than-stellar, with many fans blasting the game for its array of issues.
