On the main stage of PAX East, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed that the Dawntrail expansion will launch on July 2, with early access starting a few days prior, on June 28. Yoshida also confirmed that pre-orders for Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail will begin on March 26, granting players early access to the expansion.
To start the panel, Yoshida gave players a look back at the road Final Fantasy 14 took to reach Dawntrail and revealed that the game had reached over 30 million registered accounts at the time of writing. In the days leading up to PAX East, some Final Fantasy 14 players uncovered potential pre-order bonus items introduced into the game in Patch 6.58. These uncovered items were the Wind-up Zidane minion and Azeyma's Earrings, with the latter granting an EXP buff for players still leveling up to 90. These pre-order items lined up with what past Final Fantasy 14 expansions offered to players that purchased in advance, with Endwalker offering Menphina's Earrings and the Wind-up Palom minion.
Soon, Final Fantasy 14 players can obtain the pre-order bonus items and secure access to Dawntrail. Starting Tuesday, March 26, at Noon Eastern, Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrailpre-orders will begin across all digital storefronts. Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail will launch on July 2, with early access beginning on June 28. Yoshida confirmed that the Wind-up Zidane minion and Azeyma's Earrings will be available once pre-orders go live, and players will receive them via the in-game mail system. Players who purchase the Digital Collector's Edition will receive a few extra collectibles: the Chocobo Brush weapon glamour for Pictomancers, the Wind-up Garnet minion, and the Ark mount. Though Ark is one of the most underrated Summons in the Final Fantasy series, Yoshida acknowledged Ark's appearance alongside the Zidane and Garnet minions as references to Final Fantasy 9 that players can discover in Dawntrail.
The physical Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail Collector's Edition will include additional items. Yoshida showed off a statue of the Viper, a cloth world map, a journal, and a leather pen case as the items that would come in the Collector's Edition box. With the release of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree a week before the launch of Dawntrail, Yoshida jokingly told attendees, «I'll give you one week» between the launch of the two expansions.
Yoshida closed the panel by confirming that the Final Fantasy 16 crossover event in Final Fantasy 14 will run from April 2 to May 8. All in all, Final Fantasy 14 players will have plenty to do in the months ahead.
