A government agent who's finally about to get out of Night City, he's betrayed at the last minute by a woman named So Mi and seemingly killed.

In the latest Night City Wire, CD Projekt RED debuted a new CGI trailer forCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. It takes place seven years prior to the expansion’s events, with Solomon Reed (played by Idris Elba), an NUSA agent departing Night City. Unfortunately, he faces betrayal and is left for dead at the hands of his apprentice Song So Mi, aka Songbird, for reasons unknown.

Phantom Liberty, the first and only major expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, is nearly here. The highly anticipated DLC, which adds new quests, stories, locations, characters, and abilities, will be accompanied by a major update to the base game that adds all-new, highly requested gameplay systems.

As Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty expansion inches closer, developer CD Projekt Red has warned PC players to test their cooling systems beforehand. In a tweet, lead scene programmer Filip Pierściński claimed that both the game's paid expansion and the version 2.0 update will be heavy on CPU usage, essentially squeezing every bit of performance out of the chip. As such, a 90 percent workload on an 8-core processor is easily expected, which could lead to thermal throttling. It's unclear as to what aspect of the update is making the game so CPU-demanding, but past patches heavily focused on ray-tracing features.

PC players looking to max out the settings on may need to upgrade their machine before the long-awaited expansion pack releases according to one CD Projekt Red developer. Set to be released on September 26 alongside the free Update 2.0, the Phantom Liberty DLC introduces new gameplay features to Cyberpunk 2077 in addition to adding new story content for players to explore.
