Escape From Tarkov is one of the most complex first-person shooters on the market right now, and it has successfully been holding onto this title for years now. This complexity appeals to many players: from its excessively detailed weapon modification systems to its janky but engaging combat loop, Tarkov delivers the sort of experience that virtually no other FPS has delivered. They’ve certainly tried, mind. The game’s appealing complexity, however, goes hand-in-hand with its always-online progression systems, where you’re always engaging with other players. This, of course, means you’re always at the risk of losing everything you’re carrying, which is bound to put many people off.

I grew up in arcades, dumping quarter after quarter into machines like Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, and especially Tekken Tag Tournament – the first fighting game my arcade crew and I ever truly fell in love with. Arcades were special; you could make friends, fight rivals, learn new tricks, and build a community. Unsurprisingly, much of the Tekken 8 team, including producers Katsuhiro Harada and Michael Murray, feel the same way. Arcade Quest, the newest single-player mode in Tekken 8, is separate from the main story, but looks to teach new players the ins and outs of Tekken 8 and introduce players new and old to arcade culture.

Nearly 18 months after its initial unveiling, Blizzard's free-to-play strategy game Warcraft Rumble has a release date and will be launching for iOS and Android on 3rd November, its arrival coinciding with the start of this year's BlizzCon.

Announced last year, Activision Blizzard’s upcoming mobile entry, Warcraft Rumble will be hitting iOS and Android devices in exactly one month on November 3. The collectible action-strategy title was originally announced as Warcraft: Arclight Rumble but somewhere lost the Arclight along the way. Those interested in checking it out can pre-register with Battle.net, on the App Store, or via Google Play. Warcraft Rumble will be free-to-play, though I’m sure there will be a cash shop.

Just in time for the 20th anniversary of the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is headed to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and on PCs via Battle.net and Steam on Nov. 10.

It's happened, Marvel's Avengers is no more. Just three years after launch, the game has been delisted from all storefronts but will remain playable for anyone who picked it up before the takedown. You should still be able to play with friends, but any issues you run into won't be addressed, and there will be no more events.

While Trepang2 has a name that makes absolutely no sense to us, this fast-paced, single-player FPS often gives us the same exhilaration you would expect from a game like DOOM. No matter what weapons you have equipped, the super soldier you play as, 106, is always the strongest person in the room. Combined with his time-slowing focus ability, you can run all over the place, dismantling any squad of enemies that steps in front of you. You feel like a action movie badass at most times. Of course, that doesn’t mean that Trepang2 is easy; we found the game very difficult when you pump up the challenge just a little bit.

Polyphony Digital announced Gran Turismo Sport is going offline on January 31, 2024. After that date, the game's online services (and accompanying features or items) will no longer be playable. 

Between Resident Evil 4, the RE2 and RE3 Remakes, Resident Evil 7, and Resident Evil 8, Capcom’s survival horror series has undergone a major identity shift in the last ten years. Sometimes it’s an over-the-shoulder third-person horror. Sometimes it’s an FPS, with a greater dedication to action. It’s great to see the creators of Resident Evil try different approaches, but if you long for the classic, fixed-camera, Alone in the Dark, Silent Hill, Parasite Eve-style horror – of which Resident Evil was a pioneering part in the ‘90s – the last few years have been tough. Well, that is until now. It’s not official, but we basically just got a new Resident Evil game, complete with its own story, cutscenes, characters, weapons, puzzles, and more, and it’s available right now for free.

The creation of Guild Wars 2 Charged Quartz Crystals is temporarily disabled, as developer ArenaNet addresses an exploit allowing players to repeatedly convert the crafting material an unlimited amount of times, avoiding daily reset limits. The material, which is used to make some of Guild Wars 2’s more valuable tradable items such as Skyscale food and Celestial gear, will be inaccessible outside of rare gift bags until the issue is resolved.

Mortal Kombat 1 has been out for roughly a week now, and so we're wondering what you lot think of NetherRealm's latest effort. An undeniable looker boasting what many consider to be the most enjoyable gameplay that the series has seen in years, the especially gory fighting game seems to have been a hit with most fans — at least on a fundamental level. Indeed, we've heard some complaints about online components, and that the single-player offering is a bit lacking. But overall, a solid soft reboot (that totally isn't a soft reboot).

PlayStation and its many leaders are in a curious position right now. The reason for that was how they tried to take Microsoft to court to stop the merger between their rival and Activision Blizzard. One of the most outspoken people about that merger was Jim Ryan, who said that the merger would be bad for the game industry as a whole. The FTC helped Sony try and stop the merger, but to no avail. Just as interesting, thanks to the court case, numerous documents have leaked, including ones that have Jim Ryan talking about the focus of PlayStation going forward.

Today, EA Sports revealed its latest deep dive video for the upcoming EA SPORTS WRC. The game is slated as a current generation title with a release on PC that will launch on November 3. The official game of the FIA World Rally Championship will offer a way to create a modern rally racer while embracing the history of the sport. The Builder mode allows players to follow the same path as the legendary Colin McRae, who’s sponsored rally games are continued by the DiRT Rally series and into the new EA SPORTS WRC. Players can also expect a Rally School to begin their journey and learn the craft of the sport, and Regularity Rally, which is an alternate form of competition that will be present in several modes across the game.

Squanch Games has announced the release date for High On Knife, the first DLC for the comedy-adventure FPS High on Life. Fans won’t have to wait long as the release is right around the corner with the High On Knife DLC releasing on October 3. One of sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077's greatest mysteries has received more clues courtesy of the game's recent major content update: patch 2.0.

When Nintendo announced that Game Boy Advance games would appear on the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack service, I felt a tinge of excitement in my soul. Not because I love Game Boy Advance games, though that is certainly true. Maybe the first rule of Fight Crab was that you don't talk about Fight Crab, because I somehow completely missed the 2019 original. Up until I got my hands on its sequel at Tokyo Game Show this week the only battles with crabs I’ve ever known were written about in multiple chapters of the Motley Crue biography. But after going pincers-on with Fight Crab 2 I now consider myself an instant fan. It seems brilliant and utterly bonkers in the best way possible.

If you've been a fan of the FIFA Career Mode over the years, you were probably relieved to discover that EA Sport FC 24's single-player mode is more or less the same deal.
