Every game has its share of ups and downs. When a studio finally has everything figured out and progresses toward full production, there’s typically a barrage of changes that happen. This is something that was happening even towards the very end of Resident Evil 4. The latest installment to a series of remakes from Capcom had caused quite a few headaches within the team.

Capcom has released its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31st, 2024, providing updated sales numbers for its biggest games. This includes Resident Evil 4 remake, previously confirmed to have sold over seven million units but now with a more concrete figure – 7.02 million.

Capcom has been on a roll regarding the Resident Evil franchise. We’ve seen a consistent flow of new games released over the years, but not all are about continuing the storyline. It wasn’t too long ago that Capcom brought out the remake of Resident Evil 2. With as much hype and success as they had with this game release, it wasn’t surprising to see more remakes released. Resident Evil 4 is the latest release for the franchise and is also a remake. If you have been waiting for the price to drop to a more comfortable entry price, you’re in luck.

Resident Evil 4 on the PS5 has gotten a major update, bringing VR Mode to the game. Owners of the PS5 version of the game can now play Resident Evil 4‘s VR Mode through the PlayStation VR2. A demo for the VR Mode is also out now on the PlayStation Store.

Later this week, owners of Resident Evil 4 and PS VR2 will be able to experience the survival horror’s VR Mode for no additional cost. Launching December 8, this DLC will allow players to step into Leon S. Kennedy’s shoes and experience the entire main story campaign in VR for the ultimate immersive experience. (And for PS VR2 owners yet to play RE4, a free demo drops the same day.) 

It’s been an eclectic few months for PS VR2. We’ve been flung to the far reaches of space in captivating puzzle adventure Red Matter, explored the evocative sci-fi world of Journey to Foundation, teamed up to capture spooks in Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord,  solved a supernatural mystery in 7th Guest VR, fought monsters in roguelike The Foglands and became a creature of the night in Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice.

Capcom has announced that the free VR Mode for Resident Evil 4 Remake, exclusive to PlayStation VR2, will be available on December 8th. There will also be a free demo that PS5 players can download, which includes the Shooting Range and a “360-degree look” of the opening.

During a recent live Q&A on Twitch, producer and host of The Game Awards revealed quite a few details about this year’s show, including its potential length, as well as the fact that it will have increased security. Keighly also spoke about other things about the show, including the fact that discussions were had about new categories being added to The Game Awards.

The Game Awards 2023 nominations are now out in the wild. Two of the biggest titles this year, Baldur's Gate 3 and the more recent Alan Wake II lead the pack with a whopping eight nods each, including Game of the Year. Despite being considered one of the best years for gaming, the show host and organiser Geoff Keighley is sticking to his rule of including only six names for the prestigious award. The remaining GOTY contenders include Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Resident Evil 4 remake, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The latter two were big hits during the first half of the year, with Zelda players showing off their mechanical creations in the lands of Hyrule, while the RE4 PC players messed around with sultry mods.

In September, Capcom made the surprising announcement that Resident Evil Village and its remake of Resident Evil 4 would be getting native ports for iPhone 15 Pro and iPad devices, and with the former having launched a week ago, the latter’s release date has also now been confirmed.

Resident Evil 4 for iPhone 15 Pro now as a page on the App Store, which reveals that the game is priced at $59.99. The game will also get a DLC for its Apple release, priced at $19.99. The pricing can be seen in the “In-App Purchases” section of the game’s App Store page.

Listings for Resident Evil 4 remake's iOS and iPadOS ports have gone live, showing a placeholder date of December 31. However, the mobile version is rather expensive, costing Rs. 3,599, matching the same default price tag as the mainline PC port. The game will be available with support for Universal Purchase, meaning the same app can be accessed across other Apple products you own, including the Mac. Similar to other Capcom titles, players will be granted a free trial/ demo before being asked to purchase the game for full content, hence it says ‘Free' download on the App Store page.
