Sonic The Hedgehog is easily in the best place compared to the last few decades. Not only does the character have a set of successful movies, a Netflix TV show that many like, a spinoff with Knuckles coming eventually, and a hit 3D video game that arrived last year, but a new 2D game has many fans excited. Sonic Superstars feels like a return to the old-school style that SEGA built the franchise on, and many are eager to get their hands on it and return to “simpler times.” However, if you hope the team will return to pixel art for future games, you shouldn’t get your hopes up.

Sonic Superstars is an exciting return to the Blue Blur's 2D origins, but its new art style exists because its developers don't think the classic pixel art approach will be "viable" in future. 

Google is apparently sending out a survey to Pixel Superfans, and based on that, we might be getting some new AI-powered camera features. While this does not surprise us, I am glad that Google is adding more features to the Pixel 8 because I really want to see just how AI has made the phone even more effective. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, of course, because knowing Google, these features were going to make their way to the new Pixel phones anyway.

Final Fantasy XIV is my favorite MMORPG ever, and it’s largely thanks to how active Square Enix has been with its player community. Director Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida has always taken fans’ feedback to heart, proving time and time again that Final Fantasy XIV has one of the most active development teams around. Following his recent appearance at the FFXIV Fan Festival 2023, Yoshi-P has discussed the game’s upcoming expansion and what he personally wants to see implemented as playable content in the MMO.

Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed in an interview at the game’s recent Fanfest that he wanted to bring the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games to the MMORPG, making them playable in-game, according to GamesRadar. Yoshida revealed that the studio had experimented with trying to get old Final Fantasy games running inside Final Fantasy 14, and potentially making them playable at the Gold Saucer.

The recent releases of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters have at last given a new audience the opportunity to play the original six Final Fantasy games on modern consoles. But while the games are currently available on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, Square Enix would really love to get them working on a third platform, and no, I'm not talking about the Xbox. I'm talking about Final Fantasy 14.

Chrono Trigger is a legendary Squaresoft (now Square Enix) JRPG that is long overdue for a pixel remaster treatment. 

When you are talking about smartphones and wearables, aside from plastic, aluminum is one of the most common materials that are used in making these devices. Sure, Apple love sticking to stainless steel, but for the most part, other companies prefer aluminum. That is why I was surprised when the original Pixel Watch debuted with a stainless steel construction, but it seems Google has changed its mind about the sequel, as Pixel Watch 2 is rumored to sport an aluminum body.

Satellite communication via our phones is finally becoming a reality, and the feature has been out for some time. The latest iPhones support it, and well, it seems like our Samsung and Pixel phones also have support for it, and it will be going widespread once Android 14 is released. Once the update comes out, it will obviously require the right hardware and with that, the rest is up to the phone manufacturer.

Final Fantasy is a legendary series that has been going strong since 1987. Whilst it shares its roots with the likes of Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy stood out thanks to its dogged determination to constantly evolve and innovate with the burgeoning genre. Since its inception, countless characters have become iconic – nearly household – in their appeal and recognition.
