Children of the Sun bills itself as a tactical third-person puzzle-shooter, but not all of those descriptors are equally relevant. Discard any attachment you have to the idea of it being a tactical third-person shooter in any traditional or meaningful way, and focus purely on the puzzle part. Children of the Sun, rather, is a supernatural sniper game where you control the path and speed of just one bullet per level – one part Hitman: Sniper Assassin, one part Seinfeld magic loogie. Essentially, you need to pause, pivot, and plot your single shot to kill every enemy on each level, all without losing said bullet beyond the boundaries of the map, or striking a part of the environment. It’s clever and compulsive, and I’ve found stitching together successful runs very satisfying. However, it definitely doesn’t elicit much sympathy for its mask-wearing main character, and I’m not sure it’s quite as replayable as it thinks it is.

We all knew this was coming. Destiny 2: The Final Shape will make sweeping changes to the MMO's overly complicated Power system, streamlining the grind and making it easier to play with friends. The kicker is that all "legacy" items – you know, the ones that were sunset years ago – are coming back. Except they're also not, because most players already deleted them after they were sunset, and developer Bungie admits "we have no recovery mechanism." 

Blizzard has announced that starting tomorrow, April 23, free character transfers will be periodically opening from PvP to PvE realms in Season of Discovery for both US and EU players. Citing player satisfaction, these transfers seem to be a limited-time event — while an official end date was not specified, Blizzard stated «throughout the rest of the week,» so make sure to take advantage of the character migration if you want it!

Senior Game Producer for World of Warcraft Tom Ellis has recently shared Blizzard's ideas on Wrath Classic realm consolidation ahead of Cataclysm Classic. They are looking for player feedback, and started out with explaining an idea they are toying with: Combining Faerlina-US and Benediction-US, two high-populated servers that are both weighted 99% in favor of one faction. «One Horde, one Alliance, and almost equal in player size.» In the very next paragraph however, Tom notes that there is a real problem in players on those two realms not necessarily wanting that kind of PvP experience. So the question is: what do the players on those servers want?

Baby Assassins, a slice-of-life Japanese action comedy, was one of my very favorite movies of 2022. A rare action comedy that is equal parts funny and kick-ass, Baby Assassins follows two extremely teenage girls who happen to kill people for a living. Astlibra Revision is a genre-blending, timeline-hopping experience that makes the usual JRPG plot of steadily escalating toward fighting god look downright tame. Homeworld 3 will not be released on March 8th as originally planned, Gearbox Publishing has announced. A new release date of May 13th has been given instead, following feedback from players who have played the demo of Homeworld 3. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has been rumored to drop ARM’s CPU designs on multiple occasions, with Qualcomm switching to its custom Oryon or Phoenix cores. The upcoming SoC is said to be mass produced on TSMC’s updated 3nm process, so it will likely tout improved power efficiency compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Those efficiency improvements are what might allow the performance Phoenix cores to run at higher clock speeds, as one tipster states that reaching 4.00GHz is no longer a dream.

PlayStation rolled out a lot of new hardware during the last two months of 2023. Sony is reportedly issuing refunds for existing The Last of Us Part 2 owners who mistakenly pre-ordered the $10 PS5 remaster at full price.

Heck, it might even be better than Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, though that particular argument involves taking on nostalgia, and that’s a battle I get nervous about as it is one I cannot win. What I can say with supreme confidence is this; Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is utterly brilliant.

When you think of pirates, history mainstays like Blackbeard might come to mind alongside the fictional Jack Sparrow. An important but often forgotten name, however, is Cheng Shih. Not only is Cheng Shih one of history's most successful pirates, but she's also the woman who took over her late husband Cheng Yat's pirate armada after his death, putting her in indirect control of 40,000-plus pirates for a nearly decade-long stint in Chinese waters in the early 19th Century. While Cheng Shih's story can be found on pages of books and elsewhere, Singer Studios aims to bring her story to life in VR. 

Final Fantasy VII Remake gave fans of the original game quite a shock as Cloud and the party exited Midgar. Zack, the protagonist of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and a key figure in Cloud, Aerith, and Sephiroth's past, appears to be alive, and helped an injured Cloud reach Midgar. This stands in stark contrast to his fate in the original continuity, where he was killed and his Buster Sword was handed over to Cloud. 

They say it's better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven. Well, "they," in this case, happens to be a guy who literally calls himself the Prince of Lies, so we may want to take that with a grain of salt. But from the time I've spent with Solium Infernum so far, I think he may be right. As a refreshed and reimagined update to a 2009 4X cult classic, it's sort of like Civilization set in the bowels of Hades – but with a greater emphasis on politics and, of course, betrayal.
