Atomic Heart’s Trapped in Limbo DLC is colourful and eye-catching, and I hated every minute of it. I certainly felt trapped; trapped in a mobile game-inspired expansion that’s repetitive, frustrating, and a chore to complete. As someone who enjoyed Atomic Heart itself a great deal last year and found several things to like about the previous DLC, I am genuinely baffled at how actively I do not want to play Trapped in Limbo ever again.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is now out. Kinda. Those who pre-ordered the $100 deluxe edition can now play the game, while everyone else has to wait until Feb 2. Then again, given that bugs and glitches saw the game unceremoniously yanked offline hours after its launch and the servers only seem to be sporadically up, few people have been able to put serious time into it.

While a recent report shows a second year of declining tabletop revenues at Kickstarter, consumer appetite for crowdfunded tabletop games may actually be increasing. Data shared with Polygon shows that Poland-based upstart Gamefound had a record year in 2023, with revenues from crowdfunding soaring by nearly 98% to $56 million last year. Taken alongside Kickstarter’s own haul of a reported $226.2 million, that could make 2023 the biggest year ever for tabletop crowdfunding.

Granblue Fantasy Relink allows players to improve their characters via different upgrade systems, including a weapon upgrade system that requires considerable rupies and materials investment. While you can get a few Fortitude Crystals to upgrade these weapons by simply playing the game, you will eventually be forced to farm them the moment you get deeper into the endgame.

A new preview for Dragon's Dogma 2 reveals that it will only let players make one save at a time, just like the original. Not only will this lock you into one playthrough at once, but the save file will also be overwritten by autosaves, so you won't be able to make multiple backups in case you want to change your strategy.

The Dungeon Keeper franchise can feel like a relic from a bygone era. While titles like War for the Overworld and Evil Genius 2 have carried its spirit of evil middle management into the modern era, developer Realmforge Studios has combined aspects of the underworld management sim and blended them with real-time strategy elements for the fourth entry in its Dungeons franchise, which came out in November 2023 and is now on Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox Game Pass might not be losing a lot of games at the end of January, but the most significant loss is a big one. On January 31, the subscription service is losing Hitman: World of Assassination, which is one of the best stealth gaming experiences out there. Technically, it is a collection of three games’ worth of content, plus an excellent roguelike mode.

Yoko Taro’s NieR series has been synonymous with live service crossovers since the release of NieR Automata. Everything from Final Fantasy XIV to Final Fantasy Brave Exvius has seen the likes of 2B make an appearance, so it’s tragically ironic that NieR’s own live service game, NieR Reincarnation, is closing its doors soon.

Splatoon 3 fans woke up to big news this morning. After initially being slated for Spring 2024, the second wave of the game’s DLC is getting a bump up. It’s now scheduled to be released toward the end of next month.

Nier Reincarnation, the story-driven mobile RPG set in the popular Nier universe, will have its services ended this April. While the game will continue to receive support until then, its final story campaign will serve as its last big hurrah.

Nintendo has finally announced the release date for Splatoon 3's Side Order expansion.

Arrowhead Studios has released a new Helldivers 2 trailer that’s all about the Galactic War campaign gameplay, detailing how missions work on a planetary and galactic scale. The co-op third person shooter is set to release for PS5 and PC on 8th February 2024.

Zombie survival game The Day Before went offline for good on Monday, just 45 days after the game launched to infamy on Steam. It was an ignominious end for the game, which went from one of the most wishlisted games on Valve’s storefront to financial disaster for developer Fntastic.

Square Enix has confirmed that mobile title NieR Re[in]carnation will be shutdown on April 30th, 2024. This will follow the conclusion of the game’s story, with the final part of that being released on March 29th. That will essentially give players just the month to play through the final part of NieR Re[in]carnation.

Adult Swim shared a new trailer for Ninja Kamui, the new anime series from Jujutsu Kaisen director Sunghoo Park, on Saturday. The original series follows Joe Higan, a former ninja who is nearly killed by his clan after fleeing to rural America with his family. Surviving the attempt on his life, Joe re-dons his identity as “Ninja Kamui” to embark on a campaign to avenge his family. Basically, it looks like John Wick but with ninjas instead of hitmen, and it looks killer.

The galaxy of Warhammer 40,000moves at a glacial pace, with major narrative threads frozen in place for years, sometimes even decades at a time. That’s been true of one of the game’s most popular factions, the green-armored Dark Angels Space Marines, basically since they were introduced to the game in the 1980s. But in March 2023, Lion El’Jonson, the long-lost leader of the Dark Angels, returned from the dead. His reappearance in the Imperium of Mankind is now making waves inside the First Legion, as it’s known, for the first time in 10,000 years. And it could be a prelude to something even more divisive to come.
