There’s a lot to love about PS5, but it’s missing one key feature from the old PS4 — themes. On the old console, themes were used as a way to customize your homescreen and were often inspired by iconic games or beloved characters. Unfortunately, themes aren’t available on PS5, though Sony has implemented a cool new feature that modifies the background as you browse your collection of games.
I was already on board with Sand Land's beautiful open world, based on the relatively obscure manga from Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. Cynics might point to Bandai Namco precedent and say Sand Land is on track to be yet another middling adaptation appealing only to hardcore fans, ala Dragon Ball Kakarot, but I personally gravitate to the almost comfortable consistency in the publisher's vibrant worlds and simple but satisfying gameplay.

Enchanted cards are always a big draw for players and collectors, and the upcoming expansion is adding a fresh new batch to the game. Enchanted is the highest designation of rarity in the game, referring to cards with alternate art and a special «Inkwash» foil treatment. Although they have the same value in gameplay as their standard variants, Enchanted cards definitely pop in a collection.
Presentations are now a permanent feature in all corporate settings and they have even infiltrated into areas that were once considered anathema for them - visual elements, art and designs. Do you know why making a visually pleasing presentation is necessary? An informative piece of documentation should not always include texts and graphs as it makes the presentation look boring. To make them engaging one must include different types of visual elements such as pictures, videos, animations, icons, illustrations and more. This enables the speaker to draw more attention to the details and keep everyone hooked throughout the presentation. While there are multiple presentation tools available in the market, there is one tool called “Visme” that shines in providing the best presentation editing tools and techniques. Know more about the Visme presentation tool here.

It was always going to be a tall order for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to emerge from the shadow of the mighty Arkham series. From an architectural perspective the game has moved from Unreal Engine 3 to 4, while from an art and style perspective think more multi-coloured Marvel comics than a dark DC tome. From the bright sunshine across Gotham City and vibrant greens, reds and purples, each character and enemy stand in stark contrast to the subtle and muted tones of Rocksteady’s prior games. The same wide-open city is available to you early on, and each of the 4 playable characters have their own unique and fast means of travel. However, this presents one of our biggest issues when it comes to performance.

Most companies like to sweep the bad parts of their legacy under the rug. For Nintendo, that includes some The Legend of Zelda games licensed for the Phillips CD-i platform. Frustrating game design, poor animation, and a terrible controller cemented these games as some of the worst ever made, but that doesn’t mean people have ignored them. Some of the earliest “YouTube Poops” were based on footage and dialogue from those games. And now, the new Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore is full-on spiritual successor — and a Phillips CD-i-inspired controller is coming out to go along with it.

Nature themed games have been a huge hit in recent months (years?) and yet another title is soon to hit store shelves, this time coming to us from Studio Libellud. As the above quote says, Harmonies is all about, well, harmony. Harmony in nature, between all elements of an ecosystem. It’s not the nitty gritty that keeps everything in balance, like the food chain, but the idilic view we have of nature as a whole. And I’m here for it, both in theme and mechanics.

The cover is available in two formats – the "portrait" variant is open to order, the wraparound is a 1:25 ratio variant. It renders Batman in the classic Hewlett art style, simultaneously moody and cartoony.
Slave Zero X first caught our eye last year, with a trailer that practically screamed cool 90s anime sh*t. Fortunately, the game was later confirmed for a PS5 and PS4 release (it's coming on the 21st February), and so we simply had to pick the brains of the people behind the project.
Spotted by our sister-site Nintendo Life, publisher Capcom is currently holding what it's calling "Super Elections", asking fans and players for their feedback relating to its lineup of games and offering eligibility for various prizes (Capcom wood badge set, a key art catalogue, and Capcom Hanafuda) for taking part. It's pretty cute stuff for the most part, but some questions certainly stand out.
This is already turning into a bumper year for Metroidvania fans. With the excellent Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown having kicked things off beautifully, Ultros now arrives from a smaller publisher but with no small hype of its own. With a gob-smackingly unique art style and a fungal, miasmic tone, it certainly looks like nothing else out there right now, with a far more vague and player-led story than you might expect.

Even as venture capitalist funding surged in 2021 as a response to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, video game companies led by all-male founders brought in $4.1 billion in funding to the $1.2 million for companies with all-female founders, according to data provided to Polygon from investment research company PitchBook. (In 2021, gaming companies with mixed-gender founders — i.e., those including at least one woman — received $400.9 million in 62 deals, according to the data.)

Pokemon Concierge was released on Netflix earlier this month, which was a delightful breath of fresh air for the series, and depicted a more calm and zen-like experience in the Pokemon universe. It was a smash hit for Netflix, and one that prompted fans of the series to start asking two questions. One, when are we getting more seasons, and two, when will Game Freak smell the roses and turn this concept into an actual video game?
It's official: the rights to Marvel Comics are now owned by the notoriously evil Roxxon Energy Corporation. A talented Pokemon fan artist designed both a baby version of Smeargle and a new evolution for Weezing. When it comes to Pokemon fan art, creating new evolutions, or even pre-evolutions, is a fairly common practice. These genres of fan art are popular as they take familiar creatures and showcase them in unfamiliar ways.
It might be a bit of a controversial take, but I’ve always preferred the Ace Attorney games with Apollo Justice over those with Phoenix Wright. That’s not to say the Phoenix Wright originals are bad, but I just found Apollo a far more relatable and likeable character. That probably says a lot about me, but it’s why I’m so happy that Capcom has finally graced us with a collection of Apollo’s various Chords of Steel workouts with the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy.
In early 2023, it was revealed that Blizzard had been working on a completely brand-new survival game based on an original IP. It was later rumored that the game would be called Odyssey and would feature a "cartoony" art style similar to that of Overwatch. It was all very exciting, especially since Activision Blizzard is almost allergic to experimenting with new IP these days, but unfortunately, we'll never actually get to play Odyssey.

Earlier this month, I witnessed a digital miracle. In a press briefing ahead of CES, Nvidia showed off a demo for its Ace microservice, an AI suite capable of generating fully voiced AI characters. I watched in awe as a demoist spoke to an in-game NPC through a microphone, only to have the digital character respond in real time. It was a true sci-fi feat, but there was one question: How did it learn to do that?
