Continuing their great prank of pretending they plan to release Skull And Bones, Ubisoft today launched an open beta for their multiplayer open-world pirate boat game. The free beta will run until Sunday night, after which Ubisoft will presumably delay the game for another seventeen years while once again redesigning the whole thing. When you buy your great grandniece Skull And Bones for her 17th birthday, you'll be able to tell her you were there for the mythical open beta of '24.

After beginning development in 2013 and numerous delays later, Ubisoft Singapore’s seafaring pirate action RPG, Skull & Bones, will finally set sail next week. In the meantime, you can watch the launch trailer and even jump in early with the game’s open beta, which kicks off today.

Covenant Child, an upcoming blockchain MMORPG with a play-to-earn model, has begun a global open beta.

NVIDIA has announced that its latest DLSS version 3.5 will be launching on September 21. New AI-powered techniques will make their way to tensor cores across the board for NVIDIA RTX cards with the highlight being Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 at release. Ray Reconstruction will replace hand-tuned denoisers, which resolve sampled rays with a NVIDIA supercomputer-trained artificial intelligence network that will generate higher-quality pixels between sampled rays.

Fortunately, the excellent Payday series has been letting me live it out for more than a decade without needing to establish a rap sheet of my own. The next chapter in this long-running burglary simulator, Payday 3, recently concluded its open beta before we all get to filch the final version later this month – and though this early look was only a limited snapshot of what’s to come, it already feels like a significant step up from the lawbreaking of Payday 2. After twelve hours of smashing and grabbing, I’ve got a whole lot more left to see in the full game, but so far I’m very excited to come out of retirement and continue my life of crime.

It’s always kind of impressive how complexity can come from a handful of simple interactions.  A couple of sticks arranged just right can become a machine, or basic math plots intricate curves.  Throw in language to pack ideas down into a few letters and things can get out of hand pretty quickly, especially when programming takes effect across multiple robots performing their own routines in sync with each other.  No single piece of the operation is anything like complicated, breaking down to “go here” or “do this”, and when you build each part it doesn’t seem difficult until you step back for a moment to take stock and realize a small legion of bots is working autonomously to defrost an ice planet, all powered by the programming you dumped in their mechanical heads.

The wait for Payday 3 has been a long one, but Starbreeze Studios’ co-op heist shooter is finally just a couple of weeks away from launch. After multiple delays, Payday 3 finally arrives this month, but if you just can’t wait to get your hands on the game, a free open beta is being held this weekend. The Payday 3 Technical Open Beta won’t require you to have pre-ordered the game – anybody on Steam or Xbox Series X/S can jump in (PS5 is excluded for whatever reason). Starbreeze does warn the beta build is from a few months back, so it doesn’t necessarily represent the final state of the game – the beta is more about testing the capacity of the Payday 3 servers.

After a week in closed beta, cozy MMO Palia is entering its open beta phase today, welcoming everyone into its online life sim of gathering, gardening, and decorating. It's been a hectic week for the developers, who have been combating server issues all throughout the closed beta. Despite that, Singularity 6 is pushing its free-to-play game out into the public today with promises to continue working on fixes to the issues players have been experiencing.

It is not a groundbreaking feature, and many third-party apps already offer it, but an eSignature for Google Docs and Google Drive is still big news. Yet, whenever this large number of users want to sign a document prepared on Google Docs, they have to either print it, email it, scan it, add a digital photo, or use a third-party app. However, this is going to change as Google Workspace has finally launched the open beta of its eSignature feature.

In June, Nexon announced that ahead of its launch later this year, The First Descendant would be getting a cross-platform open beta in August. However, with not long left until when the beta was originally supposed to kick off, the company has announced a change in those plans.

Nexon has delayed the cross-platform open beta test for free-to-play third-person cooperative action RPG shooter The First Descendant from its previously planned August 22 to 28 dates to September 19 to 25. It will be playable across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Registration is available here.
