You'd think that with the sheer amount of space there is in Helldivers 2, it would be extremely difficult for two Super Destroyers to collide with each other. Sure, you can see a bunch of ships floating around each other before you drop onto a planet, but you'd have thought that the brave pilots of Super Earth would be well-trained enough to avoid bumping into each other, but apparently not.

Helldivers 2's D&D influence, which supports a 10-million-player-strong role-playing campaign, made its way into the game "about halfway through development," according to former lead writer Russ Nickel.

Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has set the game’s community yet another challenge: kill 2 billion Automatons to unlock a new Stratagem.

Helldivers 2 players have spent their time in the galaxy since launch learning how to work together for a common cause. When the Automatons mysteriously returned to menace the galaxy, tacticians would take to X and Discord to encourage fans to hit the right planets. Super Earth asked Helldivers to kill two billion bugs, and the player base pulled it off within hours. But the biggest coordinated effort that players have pulled off is not against the bugs or bots, but against the game’s publisher, Sony — and after a weekend of protest, the Helldivers scored a massive triumph.

Helldivers 2 has now been delisted in 177 regions on Steam, following Sony’s announcement that a linked PSN account will become a requirement for the co-op shooter, and the community backlash that this has sparked.

Helldivers 2 developers confirmed the multi-planet liberation system was not yet implemented in the live servers. Since release, players have attempted to maximize their strength by diverting manpower to the objectives that provided the most gains for the Galactic War effort. In response to the Helldivers 2 fan base's tactical brainstorming, Arrowhead Game Studios revealed it intended to add a way for the community to secure multiple planets simultaneously.

Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt believes that the studio will have to simultaneously add more content to Helldivers 2, while also fixing any issues that players might encounter in order for the game, to “stay relevant”. Responding to a thread on Reddit, Pilestedt talked about how the studio has been working towards this goal.

Helldivers 2's popularity continues to be immense, and one senior game designer at Naughty Dog has been gushing about what they believe to be the main reason why – its focus on immersion. 

Unfortunately, the Automatons have returned, and are launching assaults on a host of new planets. Not only that, but new mission types are available, including a defense level, where players can use giant steel doors to box in enemies.
