Conscript is one of the most unique horror games I’ve ever seen, and it’s unsettling in all the right ways. There’s nothing scarier than real life itself, after all, and Conscript takes place within the trenches of World War I while drawing from iconic games like Resident Evil 4. You play as a lone French soldier navigating the brutal environment and solving complicated puzzles. At Gamescom, we got the opportunity to talk to Jordan Mochi, the solo Catchweight Studio developer behind the classic-inspired horror game.

Earlier this Summer, we all received a rather pleasant surprise at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase with the reveal of Jusant, a “meditative action-puzzle climbing game” looked like a rather unique game to highlight at the show. The demo available afterwards surprised us even further with how well the game was coming along so far, expertly marrying together exciting climbing action and effective visual storytelling, as our own Jordan Helm noted in their look at it. Now Gamescom attendees get to experience more hands-on time with Jusant at the event, and with the game’s showcase now comes news of an October release date, meaning we’ll get to see the entire tower climb in just a couple of months.

NBA 2K23 will feature a version of the famous Jordan Challenges focusing instead on cover star Kobe Bryant and his greatest basketball accomplishments.

Kobe Bryant will be on the cover of NBA 2K24, which will launch on September 8 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC platforms. This mode will be available for all platforms mentioned.

If you, like me, are actually semi-decent at League of Legends, you’ll likely have a whole slew of Mastery shards sitting in your loot tab. Basketball season is fast approaching, and so is a new opportunity to virtually get in on the action: NBA 2K24 New Gen. 2K shared preliminary information about the game in July but has just announced new details about September 8th's NBA 2K24, including adding a LeBron Era. This new mode follows LeBron James' 2010 journey of leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to play for the Miami Heat and leads into the already existing Modern Era. NBA 2K23 also introduced the Magic vs. Bird Era, Jordan Era and Kobe Era to the game.

In Baldur's Gate 3, you get inspiration through your deeds and dialogue choices. This comes with a comical title in a pop-up menu. But HGXIV co-creator Dividus spotted something more behind one of these jokes--a Final Fantasy 14 reference.

The Wheel of Time season 2 is set to feature "one of the biggest battles ever", say producers Marigo Kehoe and Sanaa Hamri. It'll also be reminiscent of epic historical dramas like Cleopatra and Gladiator too, apparently, which has boosted our already existing excitement...

Bungie composer Ella Feingold, who has been orchestrating Destiny since 2015, has posted an image on Instagram of a score sheet with a notable name on it: P. McCartney (spotted by VGC). The title of the composition has been obscured, while the orchestration is credited to Feingold and Jordan Cox, and lest there were any doubt, Feingold's caption reads «Yeah that P. McCartney. That's all I can say for now.» 

Prince of Persia The Sands of Time is one of those rare, landmark games that influences everything that follows it for years to come. The parkour and style of Assassin’s Creed, the witty, roguish hero of Uncharted, and the tightly built drama of Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider all owe something to Prince of Persia The Sands of Time, one of the greatest platform and action-adventure games ever. The New York Times is home to a range of popular puzzles and crosswords. These puzzles are either word-based or number-based and have an educational aspect to them. The publication also brings out new games every once in a while. In April 2023, it launched Digits, a number-based puzzle, in beta. The game is fun and intuitive and the goal is to use the given numbers and basic operations to reach a particular number. But sadly, the game is being taken down. The last date to play the game is August 7, as on August 8, it will be gone forever.

The world in Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time series is sumptuous and vivid. As based on the novels of Robert Jordan, the World of the Wheel is full of bright colors, gorgeous scenery, and acrobatic action. The universe pulls from all sorts of religions and cultures in order to create a whole new kind of fantasy world. Nowhere is that clearer than in the season 2 trailer Prime Video released on Wednesday, and nowhere in there is it more fun than the brief glimpses we get of some of the main antagonists for the second season.

The first trailer for The Wheel of Time season 2 is finally here – and it's giving us all the fantasy drama epicness we could hope for.
