Nope, not a bug: Starfield's city maps just look like that

My mom recently showed me that you can pick a point on Pikmin 4's map and then press a button to return to the game with your character looking in that direction—a delightfully convenient feature. Nintendo really has a knack for designing maps. Bethesda, however… well, we all have our strengths and weaknesses, don't we?

A live-action Pokémon show premieres this fall — but it won’t look like the games at all

The world of Pokémon media is expanding. A new, live-action Pokémon drama premiering this fall will focus on the impact of the game on a former fan’s life — not on the Pokémon themselves. The show will air in October in Japan, according to a tweet from Japanese TV company Tokyo TV, translated by Pokémon website Serebii.

Review: The Making of Karateka

Selling 1984’s Karateka on its own today might be a difficult proposition. It was an extremely influential game, and it’s still very entertaining to play today, but it was a pioneer on ground that has since become well-trodden. Typically, this sort of game that was important but largely superseded would be found in one of any number of game collections. But The Making of Karateka is not that.

This is what Starfield could look like in Unreal Engine 5

Even though Starfield isn’t out yet, there’s been so much content and sneak previews for the game that some people are trying to piece it together ahead of schedule. For example, one person has decided to recreate an outpost styled after the upcoming sci-fi RPG in something other than Bethesda’s in-house engine.

Crimson Desert in action looks like a sort of janky Assassin's Creedlike where you explode stuff a lot

First announced three years ago, medieval-ish low fantasy-ish action adventureCrimson Desert made an appearance at Opening Night Live for Gamescom tonight, and boy do you have a horse in it. Also you can explode things with what looks like comical ease. Crimson Desert's older sibling is Black Desert Online, that MMO that has a really pretty character creator, and the big daddy dev Pearl Abyss say that Crimson Desert is still a work in progress but, hooooo, they're showing off that horse, alright.

Mortal Kombat 1 doesn’t look like it’s going to break any kombos

I remember when Mortal Kombat launched in 1992, or rather, I remember when it was ported to consoles in 1993. I was six at the time, but it was impossible to avoid the media fervor around its ultra-violence. My parents didn’t bat an eye when I rented it. My mother’s reaction to seeing me play it was to just ask if it was that game everyone was talking about. Then she continued with her day.
