While speaking to IGN, director Julian Gerighty revealed that players can travel to Tatooine and even undertake missions for Jabba the Hutt. You can even betray him, though there are consequences.

NetherRealm Studios had several Mortal Kombat 1 reveals at San Diego Comic-Con, showcasing characters like Tanya, Baraka and Li Mei. It also unveiled its Kombat Pack roster, which includes Homelander fromThe Boys, DC Universe’s Peacemaker (played by John Cena), and Omni-Man from Invincible.

As the podcast went on, it finally became clear that the host was referring to an option that hadn’t even occurred to me: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), the second movie in the Spider-Verse animated film series.

Plenty of hype is built around that next major installment of the Mortal Kombat franchise. Coming off Mortal Kombat 11, we might have assumed that Ed Boon and the talented folks over at NetherRealm Studios would be bringing out Mortal Kombat 12. In speculation, this would have been a continuation of the storyline where a new big bad would pop up, giving our protectors of the world another uphill battle. But instead, we’re getting something different in the form of a brand-new timeline. It’s a reboot of sorts, with Mortal Kombat 1 coming out later this year. But with it also means a new roster of fighters, some of which we might not have seen in a good while. 

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a big presence at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, and it was punctuated by the “Symbiotic Relationships” panel that dropped the new story trailer for the title. In it, we saw the rise of Venom, the return of Harry Osborne, Martin Li, and more, and questions about how far certain heroes will go to save the day. While many are obsessed with the new trailer and are dissecting it as much as possible, there were more details about the title dropped during the panel by the Insomniac Games team and detailed on the PlayStation Blog. For example, Narrative Director Jon Paquette talked about where the game would “start off” and how our three main heroes aren’t in the same positions as before:

That Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to be one of the biggest PS5 releases of this year is a bit of an understatement, and like with any upcoming major first party release, Sony is looking to fully capitalize on its popularity. The current writers’/actors’ guild strikes have crippled the event in many ways, as actors cannot attend this event in a professional capacity to promote their upcoming projects. So companies like Marvel and DC Comics won’t be at the event. However, a loophole is that voice actors aren’t tied to this restriction, and thus several video games are making an appearance at the show. One of them being Mortal Kombat 1.

San Diego Comic-Con 2023 might be a slightly lower-key event this year, in the midst of strikes by both the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), but the event, and its associated announcements, soldier on.
