The Pokémon Company revealed a new virtual card collecting game called Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket on Tuesday. After the reveal, fans online expressed concern that the game would contain non fungible tokens (NFTs). However, it now looks like NFTs won’t play any part in the new game. In a statement issued to Polygon, a representative of the Pokémon Company said it has “not developed or approved” any Pokémon NFTs.

The Pokémon Company has announced the successor to Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), Pokémon TCG Pocket, coming to mobile devices in 2024.

Well, I can’t say that I saw this one coming. Pokémon Legends Z-A has been officially unveiled as the next game in the Pokémon Legends series, and it’s set to release worldwide on Nintendo Switch in 2025.

It hasn’t always been easy to get Pokémon card packs over the past several years. During the pandemic, Pokémon cards saw a massive surge in popularity, so big that the Pokémon Company had to take drastic measures, producing more than 9 billion cards over the course of a single year as a way to address the shortage. It’s unclear what caused the boom, but it’s likely a mix of people picking up new (or old) pandemic hobbies and the increase of content creators buying cards and opening packs on streams. Basically, Pokémon cards became a nostalgia-fueled way to gamble.

Today was Pokémon Day, marking the release of the original Game Boy titles in Japan, and Nintendo and The Pokémon Company used the occasion to reveal what’s coming next for the franchise. The big news was the announcement of the next major core entry in the series, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which won’t be coming until 2025. This means 2024 will be the first year in a long time without any new console Pokémon game, although fans may not actually be that upset by that, as many have been urging Game Freak to take more time with their games following the messy launch of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon has always diversified the ways you can explore its world, with Pokemon TCG being one of them. During today’s Pokemon Presents, the company revealed Pokemon Pocket, an upcoming new way to enjoy the trading card game.

It’s Pokémon Day, the annual celebration of everything Pokémon that’s timed to the original launch of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in Japan on Feb. 27, 1996. The Pokémon Company started celebrating the 1996 release date officially in 2016 and has hosted events every year since, making Feb. 27 one of the more important days on the Pokémon fan calendar. Typically, we get a Pokémon Presents broadcast on Pokémon Day, and this year is no different: Pokémon Presents debuted at 9 a.m. EST and showed off a whole new era of Pokémon.

The Pokémon Company and Creatures Inc. have revealed a new game dedicated to the collection of virtual trading cards. It’s called Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, and it’s a mobile game coming out sometime in 2024. Developers revealed the new title as part of the Pokémon Presents stream on Tuesday.

A digital version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game is heading to mobile later this year.

Skull and Bones has been a long time coming. First announced way back in the simpler times of 2017, it’s now finally seeing release a whopping seven years later. With numerous delays throughout its lengthy development, it’s safe to say that interest in the title has waned. The initial response was positive, but that has since shifted to ambivalence and borderline antipathy. I’ll admit I approached playing Skull and Bones with little to no excitement, so imagine my surprise when I found myself thoroughly enjoying my time with the game. After many hours of play, Skull and Bones has well and truly got its cutlasses stuck into me. However, my recommendation does come with some serious caveats.

The developer is Aether Games, which made the eponymous trading card game (TCG) Aether, which features blockchain and NFTs support and is therefore only available via the Epic Games Store (Steam does not allow blockchain or NFTs).

When I previewed Pacific Drive, the standout moment for me was when, in a novice moment, I found myself driving through the hellstorm of reality’s collapse. As my car fell apart around me and my health was about to hit 0%, I managed to make it to the gateway and got shunted back to the safety of the garage.

With the slew of new rewards from Love is in the Air, we are taking a look at spring-themed cosmetics from 10.2.5 that may be part of another holiday revamp--Nobegarden. Squishmallows owner Kelly Toys is taking Build-A-Bear to court in what may be the cutest legal battle ever. Both Kelly Toys and Build-A-Bear filed respective lawsuits on Monday after Build-A-Bear started selling its Skoosherz line of plushies this year. In case you missed it, Microsoft made an industry-shaking acquisition at the tail end of last year, buying up Activision Blizzard King for an eye-watering $69 billion. It took a long time to close, though, because of intense scrutiny from a handful of different sources — one of those being the USA's Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Now, in the wake of Microsoft cutting thousands of jobs, the FTC is back on the company's case, accusing it of contradicting statements made in court about how the business would operate post-acquisition.

Apple plans to settle a lawsuit that accused chip startup Rivos of stealing its trade secrets related to computer-chip technology, according to a joint court filing on Friday in California federal court. The companies told the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California that they had "signed an agreement that potentially settles the case," and that the agreement allows Apple to examine Rivos' systems and recover any confidential information.

Today, the US Federal Trade Commission criticized Microsoft for its plans to lay off 1,900 employees in the wake of its Activision Blizzard acquisition. Now, Microsoft has issued a response, saying that these layoffs "cannot be attributed fully to the merger," especially because Activision Blizzard already planned on eliminating a lot of jobs before the deal went through.

Microsoft has defended claims made by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that its plans to lay off around 1,900 members of its gaming staff contradict “representations it made” during the fight to acquire Activision, and stated that Activision was already planning “significant” staff cuts.

Microsoft’s decision to lay off over 1,900 employees across Xbox and Activision Blizzard only three months after acquiring the latter has been cause for plenty of debate, and it seems U.S. government officials were definitely keeping an eye on the situation. While the Activision Blizzard acquisition has officially gone through, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission has not given up their fight against it, filing appeals to block and reverse the deal as recently as this past December, and now they’ve filed a complaint about the recent Activision Blizzard layoffs. According to the FTC, the layoffs directly contradict statements that Microsoft made to them that Acti-Blizz would be operated independently at arm’s length, with no redundancies between the two companies.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has filed a complaint against Microsoft to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit following the news of the company planning to lay off around 1,900 members of staff from across its Xbox, Activision Blizzard, and ZeniMax teams.

Microsoft reneged on promises it made in court during its Federal Trade Commission (FTC) antitrust trial in 2023 by laying off 1,900 employees in late January, according to the FTC. FTC lawyer Imad Abyad filed a letter with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Wednesday, effectively telling on Microsoft. “This newly-revealed information contradicts Microsoft’s representations in this proceeding,” the FTC lawyer wrote.

Catching Pokémoncan be exhausting these days. At time of publication, there are more than 1,000 different species of the fictional monsters. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet don’t contain the full National Pokédex, but the base game has 400 Pokémon and hundreds more when you count additional monsters added in the DLC. In a recent hotfix change, the same that added new Trading Post transmog items, Blizzard has added Trader's Tender cost to one currently unobtainable mount, the Reins of the Kor'kron War Wolf. Originally obtained by completing Ahead of the Curve: Garrosh Hellscream (25 player)/Ahead of the Curve: Garrosh Hellscream (10 player), this mount was the first Ahead of the Curve mount. The Tendies cost is very abnormal, 7899, which is likely a placeholder. Usually we have monthly rewards with placeholder costs, like 999, but this is much higher. This is just datamining and subject to change; nothing has been confirmed or denied by Blizzard at this point.

With the start of Season 3, players began fresh with new characters, ready to once again climb the progression ladder in Sanctuary. However, it seems that another duplication bug has been discovered fresh in Season of the Construct, and trading has once again been disabled. While we currently do not know when trading will be reenabled, historically it has taken a few days when a duplication exploit has been discovered to fix the issue.

Just like all the previous games, possibly more so, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is crammed with interesting and unique minigames, some of which are clearly satirical takes on already existing mechanics and titles. For example, one such minigame will see protagonist Ichiban Kasuga pick up a camera and snap pictures of the local perverts in a minigame called Sicko Snap, something that will sound very familiar if you've ever played either of the two Pokemon Snap games.

Following a lengthy investigation, the United States Justice Department is set to file a lawsuit against Apple for potentially breaching antitrust laws. The department alleges Apple is using hardware and software limitations that make it harder for rival companies to compete with iPhones and iPads.
