Fans of collectible card games (CCG) can look forward to Cards of Eternity, a newly announced CCG based on The Wheel of Time fantasy franchise. The developer is Aether Games, which made the eponymous trading card game (TCG) Aether, which features blockchain and NFTs support and is therefore only available via the Epic Games Store (Steam does not allow blockchain or NFTs).
The press release does not mention whether Cards of Eternity will also support blockchain/NFTs. It does, however, include the following executive statements. Jens Peeters, CEO of Aether Games, said:
Aether Games is honored to have been selected by iwot productions as the exclusive digital card game licensee for a franchise as renown and cherished as The Wheel of Time. We are committed to delivering a digital trading card experience that both respects the legacy of Robert Jordan’s masterwork and inspires players of all levels, whether longtime fans or those experiencing this extraordinary fantasy world for the first time.
Larry Mondragon of iwot productions added:
The Wheel of Time community has thrived for decades on the rich storytelling of the books, and now the Prime Video television series. Cards of Eternity will offer fans an opportunity to experience this celebrated fantasy-fiction narrative in an entirely new way. Players won't just witness the story, they'll become an integral part of it.
The feature set outlined by Aether Games is robust. The developer promises stunning and hand-crafted artwork, fully animated cards, cinematic CGI sequences, card crafting, powerful deck-boosting relics, and an in-game economy where players can buy, sell, trade, or even rent out their cards.
In Cards of Eternity, players will choose to align with iconic factions from The Wheel of Time, such as the Aes Sedai and their Wardens or the Forsaken and their Shadowspawn. PvE (solo and co-op) campaign modes will be available, delving into the incredibly deep mythology of The Wheel of Time. Newcomers will find detailed tutorials to get acquainted with the game, while veterans will be able to leverage the matchmaking system to face off against other players of their skill level.
Most intriguing is the support for the One Power AI technology announced last week by iwot productions and AI software pioneer D1srupt1ve. Players will be able to interact with characters and creatures from the franchise, providing a foundation for theoretically limitless storytelling possibilities. The basic One Power AI will be free, but the full feature set will be available only to service subscribers. Details on pricing will be revealed later.

The release of the highly awaited prompted a whole new load of questions, including if this is the last game in the trilogy. The title follows the release of both and and continues the journey of Cloud Strife and his companions, who have now left the city of Midgar behind and are setting off across the larger and more complex planet of Gaia, to which they have a tremendous responsibility.
If you’re getting ready to start your Final Fantasy VII Rebirth adventure, let me offer you fair warning: it is a long game. If you’re planning to do every sidequest, minigame, and Chadley combat battle, you’ll be wandering around Gaia for 100 hours. That’s not an exaggeration; I hit credits in 73 hours and I still had a massive checklist of side content to complete.

DarkStone Digital, solo developer of The Mortary Assistant, is making a new horror game based on Paramount's Paranormal Activity films. Titled Paranormal Activity: Found Footage, it's being published by DreadXP and features some kind of reactive haunt system, with scares dialling up and down based on your actions. DreadXP have shared a teaser consisting of some crackly logos against a backdrop of radio chatter. Given that this is a Paranormal Activity adaptation, it's possible the trailer harbours spooky secrets. You may wish to experiment with turning the brightness up and down, playing the video backwards, or watching it again at the next full moon, perhaps while standing in a cemetery loudly declaring that ghosts aren't real.
Dread Central’s gaming label DreadXP is working with Paramount Global on a game from the creator of the indie horror game hit The Mortuary Assistant.
