Despite the release of the series of expansions, ’s best deck continues to be one composed primarily of old cards from previous expansion packs. Since early 2023, the trading card game initiated a new series to reflect the current moment in the Generation 9 games. The new expansions of the series added creatures from Paldea and brought back older gameplay mechanics, such as Pokémon ex. The cards, for instance, highlight creatures from the Gen 9 region, as well as Shiny versions of several monsters, including Charizard and Palafin.
Even though the main focus as of late has been on this series of expansions, the trading card game has not officially retired previous expansions and sets from the older series for.
