Uncapped Games, a new studio comprising developers who have worked on iconic real-time strategy series such as StarCraft, has announced it is working on a new game set to shake up the real-time strategy genre. Led by StarCraft 2’s former lead multiplayer designer, the Tencent studio has shed light on the unnamed project in a new half-hour documentary.

Blizzard has released a major update for Heroes of the Storm on the Public Test Realm (PTR), featuring substantial hero adjustments, new additions to Same Hero Mode, balance updates, bug fixes, and more. Alongside these changes, Blizzard also included bug fixes and improvements aimed at enhancing the overall game experience.

Over a year after its exit from China, Blizzard announced its return to the country thanks to a new partnership agreement with NetEase. Starting in the summer of 2024, fans of Blizzard and Microsoft games in China can expect to see the return of titles such as World of Warcraft and Hearthstone that were part of the previous NetEase agreement.

Blizzard and NetEase are allegedly planning on announcing the restoration of their partnership within the next few weeks. If the rumors are true, Blizzard may be able to restore access to its games in China via NetEase this year, possibly as early as April.

There's just something special about the hectic nature of real-time strategy games like or the high level of tactics required to win a grand strategy game like that other video game genres can't replicate. Highly cerebral, PC strategy games span various genres, some of which can require split-second reactions while others are more of a slow burn.

Though will go down as arguably the best real-time strategy game of all time, it's been seven years since the last expansion for the title,, was released, leaving those who enjoy RTS games lacking content over the past decade. While other RTS games have certainly launched, like 2023's, none have lived up to the lofty heights that set in the 2000s. Indeed, it was mainly the and RTS titles that spawned an entire professional Esports industry, with players from around the world competing for what was, at the time, incredibly high cash prizes.

Sam 'Samwise' Didier, the longtime Blizzard art director who defined the iconic look of the studio's games, has announced that he's retiring after 32 years with the company.

During BlizzCon's opening ceremony, Blizzard celebrated its games with a cinematic that focussed on the here and now, with nods to World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, Hearthstone and the developer's latest game: Warcraft Rumble. With this focus on the present, one of its most important series went ignored, much as it has been for years. StarCraft didn't get a look in. 

StarCraft could be making a comeback and possibly in an entirely different genre.

Microsoft’s big bosses were recently asked about the big games that they would want to see return. Interestingly, Sarah Bond and Phil Spencer had completely different answers.

This race of demonic aliens makes an initial impression that brings to mind the infamous Zerg of StarCraft, but once again the team at Frost Giant Studios, which consists of former Warcraft and StarCraft developers, has ensured that Stormgate brings a fresh spin on the RTS game formula while paying loving homage to its roots.

Stormgate players will be able to command hellish hordes against humanity's armies when the game arrives in 2024.

All the genres of yesteryear are coming back to life. We've got CRPGs, point-and-click adventures, and, uh, retro LCD games. Yet RTS games—the only noble genre that lets you send entire battalions charging directly into enemy fire because it's easier than coming up with an actual plan—still feel like they're out in the cold.
