It’s only been a few days since I loaded my copy of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door onto my Nintendo Switch, but I’ve already played through the entirety of what I can cover in this preview, and let me tell you – it’s been a blast. When first I learned of Born Of Bread, it was getting towards lunchtime - yes, 10.30am absolutely counts as "getting toward lunchtime" - and my brain was immediately filled with savoursome thoughts of simulated baking. Born of Bread isn't actually a baking sim. Even better than that: it's some kind of spin on vintage Ninty RPG Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, except that instead of being made of paper, the main character Loaf is made of living dough... but kind of looks like he's made of paper, this being a 2.5D game with flat character art. Look, just watch the trailer while I make myself a sandwich.

Just when we thought all was over, Nintendo surprised fans right at the end of its newest Direct to announce that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is being remastered for the Nintendo Switch. 

Many will have issues with the Nintendo Direct we got today, as there were many “trends” and “problems” that can easily be pointed out. However, as with any Nintendo Direct, some highlights can shine above anything else that was put out there. For example, The Big N knows that they need to put out a big title at the end of the presentation to showcase that there is something really good for gamers to look forward to. Bug Fables came the closest of matching the tone and art style, with the combat coming pretty close as well. One thing that hurt it though was the all-bug cast and that making it a little harder to get into the story and the attempted drama.
