Trepang2 is an absolutely mental first-person shooter that released on PC earlier in the year, and now it's coming to PS5 on the 2nd October. Playing as a super solider with a seemingly insatiable hunger for blood and guts, there's a clear emphasis on completely over-the-top gameplay. You can slow time, pluck helpless enemies off their feet, and generally just massacre anything that stands in your way. Trepang2 was well received on Steam, where its relatively fresh brand of chaos won over a lot of players.

Respawn and EA are rolling out a significant patch for Star Wars: Jedi Survivor. The game, plagued with performance issues at launch, now supports a “solid 60 fps” in performance mode on consoles. In addition, the PC version (which bore the brunt of many of the performance complaints) also received some stability improvements in patch seven.

When Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched earlier this year, the action-adventure sequel was praised widely by critics and audiences for everything from its storytelling and characters to its combat and exploration. On the technical side of things, however, the game was on the receiving end of some criticism, with its performance on consoles being one of several areas that weren’t up to scratch. Developer Respawn Entertainment has, of course, continued to release patches for the game in the wake of its launch to address many of those issues, and the newest patch, patch 7, targets performance on consoles above all else.

Ascendant Studios has released its second update for Immortals of Aveum, bringing some much-needed fixes. Future updates are coming to add more options and features requested by players. For now, PC players can look forward to increased range for mouse sensitivity to set it lower. Console players who found the brightness too dark or bright should also see this fixed.

Classic Doom (both the first and second entries) will never die. Even co-creator John Romero still plays them. Much of this longevity can be attested to the modding community, and there’s one that will definitely appeal to you roguelike fans.

Starfield is nearly upon us, and reactions are already circulating the internet, including our own Starfield review. You can get plenty of opinions about the game's overall quality, but given Bethesda's history on consoles, you might be wondering about the game's performance. Luckily, there's good news on that front.

Over the past few weeks, the PlayStation 5 hacking scene has been making excellent progress, with one developer creating 60 FPS patches for multiple games, such as Bloodborne and Red Dead Redemption 2, that can run on a hacked console. This, however, seems only to be the tip of the iceberg, as some games can run at over 100 FPS with unlocked framerate on hacked consoles.

Nightdive Studios has plans to remaster The Darkness, meaning that, if all goes well, PC players will finally get to murder people with demonic tentacles. Based on the Top Cow comic book of the same name, the game blends FPS gunplay with demon-assisted slaughter and, according to Nightdive’s CEO, it’s very much on its to-do list.

While the PS5 version of Armored Core 6 runs very well and mostly at 60 FPS in performance mode, the PS4 Pro version run on a PS5 appears to give you a locked frame rate of 60 FPS, much like it did for Elden Ring.

Delta Force is a series of military FPS shooters which began all the way back in 1998 and came to PlayStation with PS1's Urban Warfare (the fifth game in the franchise). Creator NovaLogic shuttered back in 2016, and its assets were acquired by THQ Nordic, which in turn, was swallowed by a bigger fish, the Embracer Group. Now, a pre-Gamescom teaser has revealed the series will live again and is set to be fully revealed at Gamescom's Opening Night Live.

The classic PS1 first-person shooter Star Wars: Dark Forces is being resurrected on the PS5 and PS4 – almost 30 years after it first released. The game – which originally launched on MS-DOS – is being remastered by Nightdive Studios, which is using its proprietary KEX Engine to rebuild the original in 4K resolution at up to 120 frames-per-second.

Certain Affinity has announced that it’s working on an original first-person shooter codenamed Loro.

There have been a lot of games with inspirations from other sources out recently. We’ve seen racing games like New Star GP take inspiration from Sega classics while Battlebit Remastered has completely reinvigorated many players’ love for OG Battlefield with a low-poly look. One thing we haven’t seen is anything on the market really inspired by Titanfall’s fast-paced blend of shooting, wall-running and platforming blended into a first-person shooter – until now.

Soulslinger: Envoy of Death has received an official trailer highlighting how the brutal fast-paced arena FPS action title will play, and things are promising. The title goes into early access near the end of this year. 

After years of serving as a support studio for major projects such as Halo Infinite, Doom, and Perfect Dark, Certain Affinity is once again striking out on its own with an original project, codenamed Project Loro.

Cooperative horror FPS series Killing Floor will return for another monster mash (hopefully it'll be a graveyard smash) in Killing Floor 3, developers Tripwire Interactive announced today. Sadly they've said little about the game and shown even less but yup, once again you and your pals will get to fight through hordes of wacky bioengineered monsters. Honestly, science was a mistake. Gory first-person shooter Killing Floor is back for another entry. 

Konami has revealed the resolutions and framerates for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 for each platform.

Konami has confirmed to VGC that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 targets 1080p and 60 FPS on all platforms except Nintendo Switch. It follows reports from hands-on previews about Metal Gear Solid 2 and3 from the collection running in 720p resolution. Unfortunately, this means no 4K resolution option for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
