In an interview, Blizzard revealed that «Heroic Week» is returning in The War Within. Dragonflight changed the raid release schedule for the first time in a while, removing «Heroic Week» — a one week period where Mythic raids and the full loot pool of Mythic+ were not open. Blizzard has announced that starting tomorrow, April 23, free character transfers will be periodically opening from PvP to PvE realms in Season of Discovery for both US and EU players. Citing player satisfaction, these transfers seem to be a limited-time event — while an official end date was not specified, Blizzard stated «throughout the rest of the week,» so make sure to take advantage of the character migration if you want it!

Like many other multiplayer games, Overwatch 2isn't immune from cheaters. And it's not only an issue on PC, where cheaters use tools like aimbots. Some folks use XIM devices so they can play with a keyboard and mouse (KBM) on consoles. This is against Blizzard's rules, as KBM players typically have an aim advantage over those who use a controller, even though the console versions of the game have features like aim assist. While it's taken some time to get the ball rolling, the developer is finally doing something about the XIM problem.

Excitement for the upcoming PS5-exclusive Stellar Blade has been building following the game’s well-received, and refreshingly technically sound, demo dropped, but some folks may still have some questions about the stylish action game. Thankfully, Stellar Blade general director Kim Hyeong-tae and technical director Lee Dong-gi have been doing interviews for various Asian gaming publications that may clear up some of those queries.

Blizzard has noted that the Crafted Item Level on the 10.2.6 PTR is a bug and it will be fixed soon! We mentioned yesterday that Crafted gear is only Myth 2/4 at max quality on the PTR, when Season 3 was Myth 3/4. Blizzard has now mentioned that this is a bug and it will be fixed.

Upon first impressions, I argued that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a monotonous, uninspired ordeal. The introduction to Metropolis drags along, only to feel worse thanks to messy presentation and unintuitive mechanics, though I admit the latter may be a product of my own faults. Those early thoughts still stand, as Kill the Justice League doesn’t offer an enticing first few hours. Eventually, some of those pieces improve. Others, not so much.  

Ah, it’s a new day, full of Nintendo news. We got our first Nintendo Direct of the year today with a Partner Showcase, spotlighting games arriving in the first half of 2024 for the Switch.

Developer Bit Planet Games wrote on X that «shadow dropping Ultrawings 2 on PS VR2 today was not on our 2024 bingo card but, well, here we are.» (A shadow drop refers to a surprise release of a product as soon as it's announced, like Hi-Fi Rush.)

Gaming has had its fair share of moments when a new title would ostensibly be released at just the right time. And in 2024, for me — and maybe a lot of gamers out there — another of these games could be Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

While I wouldn’t say I’m bad at games by any stretch, I know a game I’ll be bad at when I see one. NanoApostle is one such game, and the frenetic boss rush actioner from developer18Light Game (Pronty) is due out on PC in summer 2024.

With the news that Blizzard and ESL FACEIT are preparing to launch a new esports circuit for Overwatch 2, mere months after the death of the Overwatch League, it's a good time to take stock of the entire esports scene. Things are looking slightly frantic, at least in North America. League of Legends and Rocket League are particularly messy, entering their 2024 seasons with lean budgets and major shakeups. Meanwhile, an expansion of the open-qualifiers model should provide more opportunities for everyday players to compete in Valorant, Overwatch 2, Rocket League and all manner of fighting games. Get those fingers ready, folks.

Folks, I have seen some games like Hollow Knight in my day. Until this afternoon, I would've told you that the iconic Metroidvania's closest relative is probably Crowsworn, which proudly blends Hollow Knight's style with action games like Devil May Cry to make something that appears meaningfully different. But Crowsworn has now been dethroned by Deviator, a 2D Metroidvania that looks so uncannily similar that I genuinely thought we'd gotten new Hollow Knight Silksong screenshots for a split-second. 

As I worked on my review for Another Code: Recollection, one concern I kept coming across for the then-upcoming title was whether or not anyone from the original developer, Cing, was involved in the project.

Square Enix is a big name in the video game industry. They have all kinds of incredible IPs that they deliver into the marketplace. The biggest of which is Final Fantasy. However, the company has attempted to bring out some smaller titles. With more players and devices available to enjoy games, the folks at Square Enix have tried to cover all their bases. Some have worked incredibly well, while others fell short of becoming that big blockbuster hit. 

Rebel Wolves, a team of developers composed of CD Project Red veterans, has revealed some tantalizing details about its ongoing project. 

Rebel Wolves, the studio founded by a few of the CD Projekt folk behind The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, have officially titled their forthcoming dark fantasy RPG. That title is… Dawnwalker. They’ve also shared a new teaser image, which I think could depict one of two things: a) a vampiric or otherwise supernaturally-inclined hero flying through the air care of a Dishonored-style Blink teleport, sword raised and clawed fingers stretched towards an unseen foe against a blood-red backdrop. Or b) a man with his trousers aflame swinging through the window of a second floor spa while attempting to use his umbrella as a parachute, having received only half a pedicure before the building caught fire.

Phase 2 of Season of Discovery will launch on February 8, increasing the level cap to level 40, an upgraded Level-Up Raid inside Gnomeregan, new runes, new abilities and a zone wide PvP event in Stranglethorn Vale!
