After the resounding success of the Fallout TV series on Amazon Prime Video, the video game series on which the show is based has seen renewed interest across all platforms. Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 have become one of the most played games on Steam. Bethesda said last week that Fallout games had attracted close to five million players in a single day. In a new interview, studio director Todd Howard hinted at two unannounced Fallout projects, without detailing what they could be.

Fallout 4 next-gen update is now available to players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. The update brings native game applications for PS5 and current-gen Xbox consoles, alongside better framerates and other improvements and fixes. Bethesda had announced earlier this month that the Fallout 4 update would be free for all players who own the game on current-generation consoles. However, players who redeemed the PS4 version of the game via PlayStation Plus will have to wait to get the PS5 version.

Bethesda has announced that the long-awaited Fallout 4 upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are coming out later this month on 25th April. PC, PS4 and Xbox One gamers will also see some benefits.

The Fallout TV show will start streaming even earlier that previously announced. The new stream date and time for the eight episode first season of Fallout is April 10th at 6PM PDT – that’s 11th April at 2AM BST in the UK.

While many video gamers are enjoying the “renaissance” that we’re going through currently via the high-quality TV shows and movie adaptations of video game properties, there’s still some hesitation when a new one is announced. After all, we’ve all seen just how quickly things can go from “good intentions” to “bad product,” and gamers are tired of seeing that with beloved franchises of the gaming space. To that end, the Fallout TV Series is about to hit Amazon Prime Video, and many can’t wait to see what the team came up with. Given the large scale of the Wasteland and its inhabitants, one might wonder how they tried to get “everything in there” for a single season.

During last night’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, fans were treated to their first glimpse at Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout TV series during an interview with actor Walton Goggins. Goggins portrays The Ghoul in the show, set to premiere in its entirety on April 11.

We got our first look at the Fallout TV series last week with a trailer on Saturday preceded by a behind-the-scenes report from Vanity Fair, which included looks at the show's main characters and surprisingly bright and colorful post-nuclear world, and of course some words from Bethesda executive producer Todd Howard. The report also included a small and frankly baffling detail for fans to look forward to: Vault Boy, the real-world mascot of the series and in-game avatar of fictional megacorp Vault-Tec, is going to get his very own origin story.

I’m sure you’re already well familiar with the fact Fallout is being adapted into a TV series, but if you missed out, the show is coming our way in April of next year. Perhaps the Last Of Us TV show on HBO getting it right was the dawn of a new era of good TV based on video games, but I still approach each adaptation with trepidation. The first look at Prime Video’s Fallout TV series has emerged with Vanity Fair‘s exclusive images.

We’ve known that Amazon’s Fallout TV series has been in the works since July 2020. Today, we get our first good look at the series’ live-action world thanks to a brand new batch of images.

The upcoming Fallout TV series will launch on April 12, 2024, and backer Amazon Prime has now shared a first look behind-the-scenes with Vanity Fair. The game's retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic aesthetic does seem like a natural fit for a TV show and the choice of creative leads couldn't be better: the husband and wife team Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, best-known for the Westworld series (which I thought was excellent, albeit I didn't watch beyond the first season). The show's main characters include Lucy (played by Yellowjackets star Ella Purnell), who much like the player characters has spent her entire life in a vault, and her father Hank (Kyle MacLachlan) who's the vault overseer. Some sort of crisis sees Lucy leave the vault and enter the wasteland we know and love. «The games are about the culture of division and haves and have-nots that, unfortunately, have only gotten more and more acute in this country and around the world over the last decades,» says Nolan, who directed the show's opening three episodes. «We get to talk about that in a wonderful, speculative-fiction way.» The basic setup seems to be that Lucy is a nice but naive person whose vault-coddled existence has ill-prepared her for what lies above. Nolan points out the nature of virtue in such a setting as «circumstantial… it's a luxury virtue. You have your point of view because you never ran out of food, right?» Todd Howard also chimes in on the show, on which he serves as executive producer. «We had a lot of conversations over the style of humor, the level of violence, the style of violence,» says Howard, which is quite amusing coming from a guy who directed the Fallouts that gave us the VATs targeting system and its beautifully glitchy slow-mo gibfests. «Look, Fallout can be very dramatic, and dark, and postapocalyptic, but you need to weave in a little bit of a wink…. I think they threaded that needle really well on the TV show.» Howard discusses various previous approaches to such a project, and why they were turned down, saying that when people wanted to make a movie of Fallout 3 his thoughts were basically, «Yeah, we told that story.» The Fallout TV show is set within the games' universe with its own tale, and one that Howard says is canon: which is an interesting detail, and an approach I wouldn't be too surprised to see other shows based on games take.

The Fallout TV series is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video early next year, and today a new article in Vanity Fair revealed a ton of interesting new info about the series. It seems the Fallout show will stick relatively closely to the source material, with the usual factions you’d expect – Vault dwellers, the Brotherhood of Steel, the Ghouls, ect – but it isn’t a direct adaptation of any of the games.

Given the growth that the video game adaptation subgenre has seen since 2019, studios of all sizes are taking more chances on making something special based on hit video games. That includes Amazon, who is using its Amazon Prime Video service to bring people a Fallout TV Series. Typically, this would fill fans with dread, as large-scale video game adaptations have done poorly in the past. However, with the budget that the show seems to have, things might just be good. Further fueling this hope is a leaked teaser that dropped today on the internet, and it shows many things fans will want to see.

Starfield might be hogging the spotlight right now, but that doesn't mean Bethesda has forgotten about its other babies; Fallout — or more specifically its upcoming live-action TV adaptation — is, for instance, having a bit of a moment right now following a brief Gamescom showing and confirmation from Amazon that it's launching in 2024.

With gamescom ONL kicking things off yesterday, the first full day of the trade show started off strong with new information on Starfield, Alan Wake 2, and RoboCop: Rogue City. Of course, we also saw some great surprises, including a brand-new teaser for the Fallout TV series.

While “Opening Night Live” showcased many things, some companies decided to take things behind closed doors to show off more without getting audience reactions. Bethesda was one such company, as they not only did an extra showing of their upcoming title, but they also showed a smaller teaser for their Fallout TV series coming to Amazon Prime. While the teaser isn’t going to be shown online, Amazon Prime released a poster and tweet confirming the show would arrive in 2024 and be set in Los Angeles.
