Video game adaptations have been hit or miss over the years. When we get The Last of Us, we also get Assassin’s Creed. While they have been getting better over the years, it remains to be seen how long they’ll hold out. Luckily, Fallout is shaping up to be another great adaptation, if the production is anything to go by.
Leading development are husband and wife team Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, famous for HBO’s underrated sci-fi series Westworld. If the last name Nolan rings a bell, then you’d be right: Jonathan is the brother of legendary director Christopher Nolan (Interstellar, Oppenheimer, Dark Knight trilogy). The techno-fantasy of Westworld fits superbly into the world of Fallout, as well as the themes. The series has been in development since last year.
If that’s not enough, the cast is enough to a Deathclaw cry. In top billing are Walton Goggins, Ella Purnell, and Kyle MacLachlan. Funny enough, all three have been in video game-focused content. Goggins, who will play an unnamed Ghoul, was antagonist Mathias in 2018’s Tomb Raider film. Purnell, known for her role in Showtime’s Yellowjackets, played the crazed Jinx in the critically acclaimed Arcane (or Arcane: League of Legends). Lastly, MacLachlan, famous for Twin Peaks, portrayed Donald Love in Grand Theft Auto III.

The series also stars Xelia Mendes-Jones, Aaron Moten, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Zach Cherry, Mike Doyle, and Dale Dickey, just to name a few. It’s clear that Fallout will be a big one for Amazon Prime. The show even garnered fan-favorite Todd Howard, the series director at Bethesda, as executive producer. The streaming service also plans on adapting the God of War series. No official trailer for the project has been released.
