Given the growth that the video game adaptation subgenre has seen since 2019, studios of all sizes are taking more chances on making something special based on hit video games. That includes Amazon, who is using its Amazon Prime Video service to bring people a Fallout TV Series. Typically, this would fill fans with dread, as large-scale video game adaptations have done poorly in the past. However, with the budget that the show seems to have, things might just be good. Further fueling this hope is a leaked teaser that dropped today on the internet, and it shows many things fans will want to see.
For example, several characters wear power suits, a big item in the main franchise. We also see the Vault Dwellers preparing to enter the Wasteland for the first time. We also see a Ghoul who looks awfully familiar to certain characters from past games. Just as important, we see the explosions of nuclear devices both in the distance and up close. After all, war never changes.
While the teaser doesn’t give fans everything they want, it does indicate that the scale and scope of the Fallout TV Series will be massive, just like the games themselves. The reason that’s important is that the series is known for its sprawling narrative and making the world feel alive even though it’s post-apocalyptic. It would’ve been easy for them to simply focus on one Vault Dweller coming to the Wasteland and trying to save one town they stumble into, but that doesn’t appear to be the case here.
We know that iconic groups like the Brotherhood of Steel will be in the series, and Amazon will undoubtedly want numerous Wasteland monsters to appear, too, to up the danger levels.

The bad news is that despite all the leaks and teasers, it’s unclear when the series will arrive. The current strikes going on with the writers’ and actors guilds are likely affecting the release date. The show is finished filming by all accounts, but the actors can’t talk about the project or promote it meaningfully because of the strikes. That is causing a serious ripple effect across Hollywood and causing delays left and right. Based on where things stand now, the series will likely debut in 2024 after things cool down.
So until then, we’ll simply have to wait for Bethesda or Amazon to drop more information on the show.

Fallout 76’s recent Inside the Vault announcement states that the titular live service game is bringing a plethora of new updates and events for its dedicated fanbase. They are urging players to get the public test server setup so they can take part in exterminating some bugs (not just radroaches).
We’ve seen plenty of comeback stories in the games industry over the years, where games that launched in terrible states for some reason or other and were widely criticized upon release have gone on to improve significantly and enjoyed quite a bit of success in subsequent years. Fallout 76 is definitely a game that joined that list a couple of years after its disastrous launch in 2018– though things may have turned out differently for it.
players can unlock a skill that is reminiscent of the iconic VATS mechanic. This ability can be a game-changer in heated combat encounters, affording players a better opportunity to line up their shots for a chance at a critical hit. This similarity is one of the many details that highlight the shared DNA of Bethesda’s games and how mechanics evolve or change to better fit the narrative of the title in question. Plus, it’s a convenient skill for players who are well-versed in the combat gameplay of the recent games.
The recent leaks of Microsoft’s court documents for its recent trial against the FTC have dominated the news cycle for several days now, and more new nuggets of information are still continuing to filter through. For instance, it’s now also emerged that out of Microsoft’s two current-gen Xbox consoles, the less powerful (and cheaper one) had a significantly larger share of the market than its counterpart, at least as of early last year.
The Pokemon Company had its first big release of 2023 via the launch of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, known as “The Teal Mask.” The content is the first part of the “Hidden Treasure Of Area Zero” content that will continue via the second part, called “The Indigo Disk.” The first part of the DLC took players to a new land full of Pokemon and mysteries. However, despite the content’s seemingly successful launch, the title is already going to get an update to fix issues. This was revealed by the game’s Japanese Twitter account, and they highlighted some of the things that would be fixed.
The court documents from Microsoft’s FTC case are the gift that just keeps giving, although in this instance it seems someone released a document they should have not, as it’s been removed the US courts website.
A bunch of Microsoft documents that were supposed to be redacted were recently accidentally published online in unredacted form, leaking details on everything from Microsoft’s plans for a cloud-infused next-gen console, a new Xbox controller with haptic feedback, an Xbox Series X mid-gen refresh, and more. As part of that same leak, updated sales numbers for a number of Bethesda titles have also emerged (via ResetEra).

Fallout Remake. Personally, I think this might be the most potent combination of words in videogaming. The influence of the Interplay RPG game from 1997 is hard to overstate. From its superb sequel, to Fallout 3, New Vegas, Fallout 4, and all the connective tissue of Skyrim and Starfield, Fallout represents an evolutionary leap forward in the PC role-playing game. Now, with rumors swirling about Fallout 3 Remastered, the creator of the original apocalyptic adventure outlines a personal vision for a hypothetical Fallout remake. Between Starfield DLC and The Elder Scrolls 6, Bethesda is pretty busy right now, but this sounds so good, maybe, just maybe, it could become a reality.
Microsoft and Xbox representatives appeared in court earlier this year to get its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard legally greenlit. Per usual court proceedings, various emails, documents, and more were sealed away from the public and press, but many unseen documents leaked this morning. It's how we learned Xbox head Phil Spencer considered acquiring Nintendo and Warner Bros. Games at one point, and that Microsoft is planning an Xbox Series X/S refresh with a new controller for next year. Other documents point to potential remasters of Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, alongside other games.
Overnight on September 19, a huge Microsoft and Bethesda leak sprang from the Xbox FTC court documents. Information about new console plans, upcoming Xbox Series X games, and the company's reaction to defining industry events has emerged thanks to improperly-redacted court documents, giving a fascinating insight into one of gaming's biggest players, as well as details about a whole suite of new developments.
