With datamining starting, we have our first look into the Gladiator Mounts of The War Within. The gladiator mounts are an armored version of other gargoyle mounts being added in The War Within and both are similar to Venthyr's covenant mounts, albeit with way more details.

It’s become increasingly clear that the Halo TV show has a villain problem. This may seem impossible for a series that’s supposed to be about a hostile race of aliens led by liars who exploit religious fanaticism, but instead the show can’t stop focusing on human bickering, bizarrely relegating the galaxy-conquering aliens to an afterthought for both the characters in the show and the audience.

Guy Ritchie is a more dexterous filmmaker than people give him credit for. Sure, all his movies are similar in spirit — kinetic action movies with a wry sense of Extremely British Humour, but his deftness comes at knowing which element of his style needs to be emphasized for each particular project. Just last year he released two movies, The Covenant and Operation Fortune, with wildly different tones — Operation Fortune skewing more toward screwball comedy, and The Covenant being an excellent and serious look at the tensions of wartime bureaucracy. But even appreciating all that filmmaking flexibility, his fantastic new series on Netflix, The Gentlemen, lets Ritchie get back to his U.K. crime roots and refine the vibes he does best.

Reach has fallen in the Halo TV universe. If you know anything about the lore of the Halo games, you know that the next thing that’s supposed to happen is Master Chief escaping from Covenant forces above Reach, his ship getting attacked, and then promptly crashing onto the series’ first Halo ring. In other words, this is basically the moment where the action starts. That is not what happened in the Halo TV series. Instead, Chief (Pablo Schreiber) and his friends took a reflective excursion to a backwater planet that felt a lot more like a detour than character development.

The Halo TV series’ previous episode left off with Reach under siege, and with Master Chief and the rest of the Spartans doing their best to protect what’s left of the planet. But based on Polygon’s exclusive new clip from episode 5, Chief and his team aren’t out of hot water yet.

Halo’s first season felt like an old-school video game adaptation: desperate to be taken seriously and terrified of all of the specific oddities about its source material that people actually love. Sure, there were firefights, Spartans, Cortana, and Master Chief, but there was also a shoehorned romance plotline, a forced theme of trauma, and not nearly as many aliens as you’d hope. As we’ve happily covered on this website throughout the past several years, when it comes to video game adaptations, they’re often “hit or miss.” Up until a few years ago, they were decided more “miss” than “hit,” and then, we had a string of arrivals that helped change the perception of what a live-action video game adaptation could be. But there’s always a catch or two when you have a string of hits. Some seem to be “easy hits” due to the subject matter or the people behind it, and yet, as Halo Season 2 draws near, how many people can say they’re honestly excited about it?

Paramount+ released the first season of its live-action Halo series back in 2022 and while the initial premiere showed promise, the show was ultimately a letdown, both as the Chief's first foray into the live-action television space and as a Halo story. Now, the subscription streaming service has released the official trailer for Season 2 of Halo: The Series and it promises the fall of Reach, plenty of Covenant and Energy Swords, and more of Master Chief without his helmet on for some reason.

The horror movie world is littered with prequels. Halo’s first season wasn’t good. It made bizarre changes to the story and lore of the games. It had barely any action between the Spartans and the Covenant, and Master Chief spent half the season with his helmet off (and often more than that). But it seems that Paramount may have figured out the problem, considering the trailer for the show’s second season is basically all epic-looking battles.

Former Covenant abilities that were turned into Talents are getting new animations in Patch 10.2.5, and the latest PTR build has brought more abilities much-needed visual updates.Want to take a look at the other revamped animations so far? Check out our last post! This build on the Patch 10.2.5 PTR brings us adjustments to abilities such as Faeline Stomp, Elysian Decree, and The Hunt. A few abilities remain with no immediately apparent visual updates, such as Serrated Bone Spike and Bonedust Brew, but progress is being made!

Former Covenant abilities that were turned into Talents are getting new animations in Patch 10.2.5, starting with Talents such as Convoke the Spirits, Shifting Power, and Death Chakram.

More Season 3 Mythic+ hotfixes have been pushed to live servers which tunes various spells in dungeons, in addition to count changes. Base Health/damage changes to the following mobs (that we know of, there are probably more)

Your first objective in Lords of the Fallen is to reach Skyrest Bridge, the hub of cursed Mournstead. From the hub, you’ll be able to access new areas, buy or sell items and upgrade some of your most important gear. By talking to different NPCs in Skyrest, you’ll find methods for upgrading healing, unlocking boss weapons, or sealing covenants. The Skyrest Bridge hub is where the game really begins. Here’s when (and where) you’ll finally find it after starting the game. It takes a surprisingly long time.

If there’s one thing I’ve been excited about all year long, it’s League of Legends‘ upcoming Redeemed Star Guardian Xayah and Rakan skins. While I was initially over the moon for Senna’s Sailor Moon-style look finally making it into the game, it left me a little out in the cold as I wasn’t a huge fan of the splash art or its animations. Alas, League of Legends Mythic items, I knew them, Horatio. And, having known them since 2021, I never want to see them again. Thankfully, Riot has heard my pleas and will be ditching the divisive items come Preseason 2024, but this leaves a rather significant gap in the in-game market. To fill that void, Riot has asked players to help them craft a new LoL item – but you’ll have to act fast.

When I saw the new League of Legends Coven Nami skin I was obsessed. As someone who owns every Coven cosmetic (even for champions I can’t play), to see one of my go-to supports finally get her spot in the moonlight has made my week. Given the skin is also an 1820RP one, there’s a secret little dance that triggers when Nami emotes, and it’s channeling some Wednesday Addams spooky and cooky.

Thirdverse has announced virtual reality tactical action game Soul Covenant for PlayStation VR2, PC (Steam), and Quest 2. It will launch in the first half of 2024 worldwide. It will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2023, which will run from September 21 to 24 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
