February 14 was only a week ago, and Hollow Knight fans around the world united in disappointment when there was no news in sight of Silksong. When Nintendo announced their Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, I had very little faith in even seeing the slightest news on our beloved game. However, while we didn’t receive any news of Silksong, don’t put on your clown noses just yet,  Metroidvania fans were given a wonderful surprise, a long awaited sequel to the most beautiful beloved game Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights, only this time called Ender Magnolia, Bloom in The Mist.

Oft-quoted and adapted across media, Baldwin’s work still forms the spine of our modern understanding of racial and sexual liberation, yet — perhaps out of reverence — he’s rarely been portrayed dramatically on-screen. Chris Chalk, in other words, had monumental shoes to fill in portraying the beloved writer, who, as a well-documented orator, many Americans are intimately familiar with. Chalk takes on the challenge with aplomb, giving a scene-stealing turn in this week’s episode of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.

Ever since the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies were announced, two-part films have been a scourge on blockbuster cinema. At their best, they’ve often felt like hollow attempts to stretch lucrative material into something even more profitable. At worst, they’ve felt like two incomplete halves that make up a disappointing whole. But Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune feels like a special exception. The first movie, publicly billed as Dune and revealed as Dune: Part One only in the credits, handled the world-building and all the expositional heavy lifting. It all came with the understanding that the conclusion could be an all-killer, no-filler science fiction epic. And that’s exactly what Dune: Part Two delivers.

My experiments with VR have led to some strange experiences, as well as a few action-packed titles. Titanic: A Space Between falls more in the strange category, though it manages to capture my attention thanks to its gorgeous visuals, compelling tale, and a runtime that is just long enough to leave you wanting more.

I’m highly skeptical of remasters and remakes. They tend to either feel underwhelming or, worse, to actually do a competent job that ends up replacing the beautiful memories we had of the original. I didn’t have either problem with the new Tomb Raider Remastered.

Tributes from developers have been flooding in for Blizzard's unannounced survival game following its cancellation. 

Bloomberg has a new report from Omdia analyst Hiroshi Hayase which suggests that Nintendo’s next console — let’s call it Switch 2 for now — will launch this year, and feature an 8-inch LCD screen.

Just like all the previous games, possibly more so, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is crammed with interesting and unique minigames, some of which are clearly satirical takes on already existing mechanics and titles. For example, one such minigame will see protagonist Ichiban Kasuga pick up a camera and snap pictures of the local perverts in a minigame called Sicko Snap, something that will sound very familiar if you've ever played either of the two Pokemon Snap games.

Initially armed with his trusty bat from the first game, Ichiban will eventually need to upgrade and craft stronger weaponry to keep up with the gangs and goons populating Hawaii in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Just like in the previous title, a vendor will appear who is more than willing to improve or create gear in exchange for a bit of money and a handful of materials. At first, you won’t have much trouble keeping pace with the game as long as you pick up whatever shiny objects catch your eye as you traipse down the streets. Despite sounding like something you could snag while strolling on the beach, Beautiful Seashells are rather hard to come by naturally. If these attractive shells are what stands between you and a stronger weapon, here’s where you can get some.

Xbox has announced the launch of an entirely new program, designed to bring attention to indie games on its storefront. Today, almost a year and a half after the modding platform's announcement, NVIDIA releases the highly anticipated RTX Remix creator toolkit Open Beta. While the runtime has been available for some time, the public availability of the creator toolkit should really kickstart the modders' work to easily remaster classic PC games with cutting-edge rendering features like path tracing, DLSS 3, and AI-upscaled assets. NVIDIA is also partnering with ModDB to make it easier for users to check out which games are compatible with RTX Remix and to get the optimized configuration files to run the mods.

The central mystery in True Detective: Night Country seems easy when the credits roll on episode 1. It’s not that viewers already have the answer, but it at least feels like we can see all the puzzle pieces in front of us. That is, until episode 2. The second, even better episode of Night Country deepens the season’s central mystery with clever world-building and the most disgusting and disturbing ice sculpture on television.

During today's Xbox Developer Direct, Square Enix made a surprise appearance to pull back the curtains on Visions of Mana, the first new mainline game in the franchise in 15 years. The Art of Diablo Volume II Artbook by Blizzard has been known about for several months now, but the official release date has finally been listed! The book is slated for release on July 2nd, 2024. Volume II of the artbook series will contain over 500 works of art and concepts from Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo Immortal, and Diablo IV. Something to consider is that the release date for volume II of the Art of Diablo might give a hint towards a possible release date for Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred.

Let’s not beat around the proverbial bush; Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is the best Prince of Persia game for the last twenty-one years. Heck, it might even be better than Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, though that particular argument involves taking on nostalgia, and that’s a battle I get nervous about as it is one I cannot win. What I can say with supreme confidence is this; Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is utterly brilliant.

When Final Fantasy X exploded onto the PlayStation 2 in 2001, it revolutionized not just the Final Fantasy series but the role-playing genre as a whole. Koltin provides frequent rewards for bringing him Bubbul Gems, but gathering every single one across Hyrule is a tall order that dedicated players will nonetheless be rewarded for.

At CES 2024, we were able to get our first hands-on look at several NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER GPUs including the Founders Edition.

We knew it was coming, but it's still exciting to see Alienware announce its new 32-inch 4K OLED gaming panel, the Alienware 32 AW3225QF. Alienware has also pulled the wraps off a new 27-inch 1440p OLED monitor running at fully 360Hz.

Over the weekend, Square Enix revealed new information about Dawntrail , Final Fantasy XIV’s upcoming fifth expansion, during a fan event for the popular MMO. In addition to unveiling a lengthy cinematic trailer, fans got a look at one of the game’s two new jobs and its new playable race.

Laika: Aged Through Blood will either be your dream game or your nightmare. The idea of a nail-biting metroidvania where you ride a motorcycle the entire time is already an incredible cool concept on paper, and as a long-time Trials fan, I couldn’t was excited to boot this one up. This is so much more than just a motorist power fantasy, though. It’s a haunting, grim game set against a stark world and somber soundtrack that constantly clashes with the bullets, blood and guts constantly being spilled – resulting in one of the most emotionally striking metroidvanias I’ve ever played.

Steven Spielberg’s 1991 fantasy Hook feels like the true father of Disney’s massive wave of live-action remakes and spinoffs of its classic animated features, but it wasn’t actually made by Walt Disney Studios. Disney took another two decades to really see the appeal of that kind of big blockbuster brand extension, once the billion-dollar box office for Tim Burton’s CG-filled Alice in Wonderland and the similarly massive take for the villain backstory Maleficent made the live-action formula seem like a gold mine. Disney has been cranking them out ever since, generally producing hits that many people see, and few people love.

The Yakuza / Like a Dragon series has had a wealth of side games, ranging from small side ventures to massive undertakings. Many people have fond memories of managing a rising business or running a cabaret club in previous entries. But Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is going somewhere new with Dondoko Island.

Kiryu Kazuma and Kasuga Ichiban are two sides of the same Like a Dragon coin. Their personalities could not be more different — Kiryu, a world-weary lone wolf, and Kasuga, a Dragon Quest-loving golden retriever — but they live by a similar code of ethics and share a similar past, both locked up for crimes they didn't commit to help out their yakuza families. It was a bummer that Kiryu didn't stick around longer when he came around in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The two men would sure as hell have a lot to talk about.

In a significant step today, the tech major has taken the expansion of artificial intelligence-enabled tools to the next level. It has announced Microsoft Copilot key for Windows 11 PCs. Notably, this is the first major change to Microsoft Windows keyboard in almost 3 decades. Henceforth, Copilot will be the entry point into the AI space on a Windows PC. The Windows key to the PC keyboard was rolled out almost 30 years ago and it had then enabled users to interact with Windows. 

Wingspan publisher Stonemaier Games announced Wyrmspan, a Wingspan-like game that swaps birds for dragons, on Wednesday. Designed by Apiarycreator Connie Vogelmann, Wyrmspan is a one-to-five player game inspired by the hit bird board game. Elizabeth Hargrave, who created Wingspan, developed Wyrmspan, Stonemaier Games said in a news release. Wyrmspan is a lot like Wingspan, where you attract birds to habitats, but with a “step up in complexity” and several “key differences.”

A new easter egg with the Arsenal: Cosmic Weapons Cache rewards from the November/23 Trading Post has been discovered! Thanks to Twitter user Korrin for the tip. The Twilight Hermit is a NPC that was originally added to the game in Battle for Azeroth. The Hermit was already shrouded in mystery back then, as he was the person you would bring the Wriggling Mass you collected during your Island Expeditions. In the quest Wriggling Mass, you would learn that holding the mass would plague you with visions, and by turning it in to the Hermit, you would learn he used to be plagued by the same visions — until the day Sargeras struck Silithus.

Cyberpunk 2077 might very well be the best-looking PC title to date, and this short video shows how insanely realistic the game can look.
