Lost Boys Interactive latest Embracer studio to face layoffs

Gearbox's Lost Boys Interactive is the latest in a long line of studios to make staff redundant.
That's according to Aftermath, which reports that staff at the studio are facing layoffs, though it's unclear how many workers are having their jobs cut. That being said, former members of staff have described the layoffs as "massive" and that a "sizable" portion of the company has been let go.
"It seems a sizable portion of Lost Boys Interactive was laid off today, including myself," former producer Jared Pace wrote on LinkedIn.
"Still trying to understand the scope of it all, but sadly - this is a song and dance we're all familiar with."
Meanwhile, Lost Boys art director Spicer McLeroy said: "Just got hit with the layoffs as well at Lost Boys Interactive.
"It was an absolutely fantastic time full of challenges and beautiful friendships. If you see anyone from Lost Boys looking for work, grab them immediately. They are the most amazing group of artists I've ever worked with."
Lost Boys was founded in 2017 and was bought by Gearbox in 2022. That firm is, in turn, owned by Embracer Group, meaning it wasn't safe from the company-wide "restructuring" that the European games giant is facing at the moment.
That is due to a $2 billion deal – reportedly with Saudi Arabia – that fell through at the eleventh hour.
