Starfield's second update fixes infinite money puddles, but not flying cities

is incredibly immersive, and its sheer size is almost mind-boggling, but there are still some aspects to its game world that don't make any sense. Bethesda Game Studios' interstellar RPG is incredibly ambitious, but it still builds upon a foundation established by 2006's. Nearly everything in can be interacted with, and hundreds of NPCs can be engaged in conversation. The game's breadth leads to a number of things that aren't quite as they should be, but other nonsensical features are symptoms of game design, world-building, or just incorrect science.

Starfield is already the best-looking and most bug-free Bethesda RPG to date. From the crowded streets of New Atlantis to the desolate plains of all those undiscovered planets, it’s sharp, smooth, and a worthy visual successor to the likes of Fallout 4 and Skyrim. But now the Settled Systems can look even better, thanks to a huge new Starfield HD overhaul mod which boosts dozens of textures to 8K resolution.

While some doubt the power of Creation Engine 2, it can at least be agreed that Starfield looks pretty. From the metropolitan streets of New Atlantis to seeing planets from low orbit, Bethesda has given us an attractive-looking game. But it could always stand to look a little better.

has a vast multitude of companions that space adventurers can meet and recruit to their group. While some have deep and emotional storylines, others have funny personalities or are cool to have around. However, outside the core four Constellation members of Sam Coe, Sarah Morgan, Barrett, and Andreja, the game's other potential ship crew candidates don't get the love they deserve. So far, space adventurers have found a total of 27 different recruitable companions in .

Just before Starfield came out, the game’s reviews were dropped, and a consistent theme was seen within them. Specifically, these game reviewers kept talking about the amount of hours they put into the game overall, not just with the main storyline but within the whole game. Some of the reviewers had put in dozens of hours, and a few had put in over a hundred to two hundred hours into Bethesda’s new title! What that showed was that no matter what kind of gamer you were, you would have quite the adventure ahead of you. As we know now, that was by design.

The space ARPG was already an ambitious title, with a vast galaxy of over 100 planetary systems, and over 1000 planets — both handcrafted and procedurally generated — to explore, but Howard's recent comments suggested that exploring them could have been a more challenging task for players with resource management being more at the forefront of the game in its earlier stages of development.

Starfield is filled with locations for players to discover organically. Whether they’re completing missions or simply exploring the game’s universe has many enticing cities and settlements to stumble upon. However, some seem more obvious than others.

An update for Starfield has been released today, but temper your expectations: the patch is a small one aimed at closing some exploits and fixing a few bugs. The other stuff players have been waiting for, like the missing FOV slider and brightness controls, DLSS and ultrawide monitor support, and city maps, still haven't arrived.

, with more than 1,000 planets and 100 star systems, has a plethora of excellent quests, many of which are easy to miss as they are non-essential side quests. In spite of not being necessary for the completion of the game, many of 's side quests are among the greatest, most entertaining, and most immersive quests in the game. Perhaps the best element of many of these side quests, however, is the exceptional rewards they offer the player.
