It’s that time of year again! With January winding down, Nintendo fans await confirmation that The Big N is getting ready to present its first Nintendo Direct of the year! Ever since these started several years back, fans have been pumped for when the next one will arrive and what will be shown. This particular Direct will be important because it’s not just the first event of the year for Nintendo but because it’s presumably the last “full year” of Switch content. We only have one “original title” coming out via the Princess Peach game, and that seems pretty “light.”

Nintendo has released a brand-new trailer for Princess Peach: Showtime, which showcases four more transformations for the titular character.

Nintendo has announced plans to launch a new Pastel Pink Joy-Con set alongside Princess Peach Showtime.

The latest Princess Peach: Showtime trailer gives players a closer look at the new forms the titular monarch will utilize, including two previously unseen transformations. Nintendo announced this Peach-centric spin-off back in June, roughly 18 years after she first took the spotlight in the Nintendo DS title Super Princess Peach. This time around, Peach is tasked with exploring a theater stage version of the Mushroom Kingdom to stop the Wicked Grape and the Sour Bunch from ruining the Sparkle Theater’s stage productions with the help of the theater’s guardian Stella.

There’s nothing wrong with a company going in and “touching up” something about a game they don’t like or feel “doesn’t match” their intention with what’s happening. That’s a natural part of game development in many respects. However, in the case of the upcoming Princess Peach Showtime, some fans are having a bit of a debate over something Nintendo did in an attempt to “update” things without trying to “make it noticeable.” Specifically, after the game was fully unveiled at the latest Nintendo Direct, the official box art for the title was dropped. Fast forward to now, and it’s been updated, and gamers…have thoughts.

Nintendo quietly updated the Princess Peach Showtime box art to change Peach's face. Now, it more closely resembles her movie counterpart. Kung Fu Peach even has an angrier expression, rather than smiling blissfully as she leaps into an attack. Fans were quick to notice this as posts cropped up across Reddit and Twitter - some hate it, some love it, some are just bewildered.

Princess Peach: Showtime is scheduled to release in late March 2024, marking the launch of the first game starring Princess Peach as the protagonist in almost 20 years, and there’s a lot to look forward to. Straying from the traditional location of the Mushroom Kingdom which we typically see in Mario games, this adventure with Princess Peach should be on your radar of upcoming Nintendo Switch games if it’s not already. 

is giving Peach her rightful place in the spotlight in the franchise with an upcoming game that will allow her to take on several roles with the help of a magical companion named Stella. The latest spinoff follows Peach as she travels to watch a show at the Sparkle Theater, where dastardly plans prevail, and Peach must save the show and the day. There is no Mario or Luigi in sight this time, and Peach is able to show off her own capabilities as a hero of the Mushroom Kingdom.

In the latest Nintendo Direct on September 14, Nintendo announced a recently-teased Mario game — this time, a Princess Peach-focused game. Princess Peach Showtime features fun transformations that change how Peach looks and plays, with a release date announcement revealed. Peach has her own exciting adventure as she saves a theater production.

Announced back in the June Nintendo Direct, the Princess Peach-fronted title finally has a name: Princess Peach Showtime. The new title will be released on March 24, 2024, and will feature Princess Peach taking the lead role in their own game.

Earlier this summer, Nintendo announced that Princess Peach was getting her own game. At the time, they referred to the project as Untitled Princess Peach Game but during today's Nintendo Direct, the company revealed its official name: Princess Peach Showtime!
