Nintendo quietly updated the Princess Peach Showtime box art to change Peach's face. Now, it more closely resembles her movie counterpart. Kung Fu Peach even has an angrier expression, rather than smiling blissfully as she leaps into an attack. Fans were quick to notice this as posts cropped up across Reddit and Twitter - some hate it, some love it, some are just bewildered.
"It looks like she's been made to look more like the movie version," fred7010 said. "The Kirby treatment. The new face is hilarious, though. The original looks way better in my opinion."

On the other hand, we have comments like 95cesar's; "Hot take, I actually like the new change. She looks more expressive and less plastic-y".
One of the big theories that immediately spread across the Mario fanbase was that it was a Western-exclusive alteration, playing into the "American Kirby is hardcore" style of marketing. But as No Context Super Mario points out, the Japanese box art has also been altered to have better parity with the movie.
However, the choice to bridge the movies and games more closely - even if it's just for box art - has sent some gamers into a frenzy.
"She looks like the movie, TrixieLulam002 said. "I THOUGHT IT WASN'T GOING TO AFFECT THE GAMES. PLEASE."
"Please say sike," MarioFanatic64-2 said. "I don't hate the movie designs, but the game designs shouldn't be altered to look more like the movie. Game Peach is perfect as she is."
Others say that her original design was "visually boring" as she had the same expression no matter what she was doing.
"I actually like it," Winter_Chain9322 said. "She's more expressive, like the movie animation."
"Definitely a lot more like movie Peach but, to be honest, I'm not upset about it," Lux_Operatur said. "I liked movie Peach's design a lot more than the rest."
Of course, it's not the only thing Nintendo fans are arguing about this week. Animal Crossing is finally getting a Lego set, but apparently, the hardwood trees are too flat.
This has sparked backlash from a sect of the fandom who are disappointed with the lack of detail, comparing it to a fan-made Ideas set from a couple of years ago. It's marketed towards children, so you can take a guess at why it's not incredibly complicated.
