The latest Princess Peach: Showtime trailer gives players a closer look at the new forms the titular monarch will utilize, including two previously unseen transformations. Nintendo announced this Peach-centric spin-off back in June, roughly 18 years after she first took the spotlight in the Nintendo DS title Super Princess Peach. This time around, Peach is tasked with exploring a theater stage version of the Mushroom Kingdom to stop the Wicked Grape and the Sour Bunch from ruining the Sparkle Theater’s stage productions with the help of the theater’s guardian Stella.
Princess Peach: Showtime seems to fully embrace its theatrical gimmick, with the game’s levels resembling a stage with cardboard sets and scenery abound in a way that brings to mind the classic GameCube title Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Peach will don various costumes to play different roles in the ongoing story, gaining special abilities to help her navigate the environment, solve puzzles, and defeat her enemies. Many of these forms were already shown off during September’s Nintendo Direct livestream, which shed more light on the game’s plot and how these costumes work.
The most recent Princess Peach: Showtime trailer, which was posted to the official Nintendo of America YouTube account earlier this week, has revealed two more new looks for its titular heroine. The first is Ninja Peach, which sees her don a black and green garb to sneak past enemies using fake tree branches, perform nimble wall jumps, and unleash stealthy attacks from behind. There is also Cowgirl Peach, in which she trades her pink princess dress for a Western-style hat and outfit that grants her access to a lasso for tossing opponents off the stage and a prop horse for speedy chases.
This newest trailer also features Princess Peach: Showtime's previously revealed alternate forms in action. The musketeer-like Swordfighter Peach uses a rapier to cut down her foes, Detective Peach enables her to search for clues to puzzles with a handy magnifying glass, Parissiere Peach bakes delicious desserts to help save the local Sweets Festival, and Kung Fu Peach unleashes punishing martial arts on any evil-doers in her way.
With Princess Peach: Showtime set to launch on the Nintendo Switch on March 22, there is still plenty of time for the game to reveal even more fun alternate forms for the spunky monarch of the Mushroom Kingdom, and what has been shown so far is adding up to a promising experience starring Nintendo’s most famous princess. Peach is as popular as ever thanks to her supporting roles in last year’s The Super Mario Bros Movie and Super Mario Bros. Wonder for the Nintendo Switch, and fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see her take center stage in Princess
