Young Horses, the studio behind the PS5 launch title Bugsnax, has announced it's turning the indie hit into a card game. The developer requires $15,000 of funding on Kickstarter to make it a reality, with orders currently being accepted from the USA. The team plans to begin shipping the card game in October 2024 for those supporting the campaign, and then international orders will be accepted roughly one month later.

Rockstar Games could be forced to delay GTA 6 as far back as 2026 if production problems continue due to a mandate forcing remote workers to return to the developer's physical offices. A new Kotaku report says employees are struggling with the «unwanted return-to-office mandate», which could invite crunch. Having been hired as remote staff members, the swift change «caught many by surprise and has led to frustration from staff who feel like they are being pushed out».

Harold Halibut, the game made entirely out of real-life models and figures, will launch for PS5 on 16th April 2024, it has been confirmed. A new trailer debuted during last night's Future Games Show, which you can catch up above. Sculpted characters and sets have been 3D scanned into the experience, which is set on a city-sized spaceship underneath an alien ocean. A PS4 version will launch at a later date.

Larian Studios appears ready to leave the Baldur's Gate franchise behind having released the landmark third instalment, with founder Swen Vicke saying the developer has no plans for any Baldur's Gate 3 DLC and won't be producing a fourth game. His comments were made during a GDC panel earlier today, where it was said the team plans to move away from Dungeons & Dragons entirely for something new, which has been in development at least as of January 2024.

Almost four long years after its original announcement, Red Thread Games has confirmed Dustborn will launch for PS5, PS4 on 20th August 2024. A new trailer debuted during today's Future Games Show announcing the release date, which you can catch above. The game will cost $29.99 on the PS Store, with a physical edition available at a higher price.

The Explore page on the PS5 home screen appears to be running a beta that adds new features like backgrounds, friend activities, your controller's battery life, and easy links to console storage. Mystic, a popular PlayStation YouTuber, posted a new video today detailing the additions, which appear to have only rolled out to select PS5 users. You can see what's new in the video above.

It appears the movie industry is coming for every gaming IP it can get its hands on at the moment because it has been confirmed EA's life simulator series The Sims will be turned into a film. Margot Robbie's production firm is attached, and the film will be produced and co-written by Kate Herron of Loki fame. EA serves in a «creative and producing capacity».

Helldivers 2 is the best-selling video game of 2024 so far in the USA. Full stop. Done. Accounting for both physical and digital purchases, Circana data places it at the top of the sales charts for both February 2024 and the year so far. The unexpected hit is said to have sold more than eight million copies, but that stat will have increased since. The PS5, PC title beat out competition from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to land top spot for the month, though the Square Enix sequel did release on the final day of February.

Slightly later than usual, the Last Chance to Play section of PS Plus has updated with the list of PS5, PS4 games that will be removed from the service next month. With more than 61 million copies sold, Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best-selling titles of all time, but good luck getting it to run on your PS5 any better than the resolution and frame rate designed for its original PS4 edition. For years now, fans have been begging Rockstar to give the open worlder an update to make it run a bit better on Sony's current console — as it does on Xbox Series X — and as an unexpected patch actually does arrive 18 months after the last one, of course there's no sign of current-gen support.

Blizzard has confirmed it'll no longer be locking the playable Heroes of Overwatch 2 behind Battles Passes, with all past characters obtained this way and future ones unlocked for every player from the beginning of Season 10. The new Hero Venture will be available immediately for all players when Season 10 starts next month, with the only requirement being that newcomers must complete the first-time user experience.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been revealed as the official title of the superhero game Uncharted creator Amy Hennig is making at Skydance New Media. It's slated to release next year, and stars Captain America and Black Panther during World War II. A trailer was revealed during a GDC livestream, which you can catch above.

Konami seems to be very slowly pulling back the curtain on its PS5 remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, as after Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter teased the title for his YouTube legacy series, the game's main menu has been put online. Not so noteworthy in itself, but now Hayter has come out to say he's played the full game, and also added «it was spectacular».

Sony has announced the selection of PS5, PS4, and Classic games heading to PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium for the month of March 2024. There are 13 titles in total, and all will become available from Tuesday, 19th March 2024. The list looks like this:

Pentiment developer Obsidian Entertainment has pushed out a new PS5, PS4 update for the historical title that fixes its comically blunt Platinum Trophy name. Formerly named just «PlatinumTrophy», unlocking the final reward will now grant you a gong called «Historia Tassiae». Patch 1.3 also tweaks the PS5, PS4 home screen icon from a close-up of Andreas' face to the black and orange key art.

Ubisoft Montpellier has today confirmed the slate of free and paid updates it has planned for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, having first teased them last month. The main addition takes the form of a paid story DLC arriving in the second half of 2024, but releasing between now and then are three updates adding new modes and challenges, all for free.

The first Rise of the Ronin review score has been posted online, with Japanese outlet Famitsu awarding the soon-to-be-released PS5 game a total of 37/40 across four reviewers. Sony's big PS Plus Extra update is scheduled to take place tomorrow, but as 13 PS5, PS4 and Classic titles arrive, seven will be going the other way. Developer Bunnyhug has confirmed its slice-of-life fishing RPG Moonglow Bay will finally be making its way to PS5, PS4 next month. It was first released for Xbox consoles and PC in October 2021, but will now launch for Sony consoles two and a half years later on 11th April 2024. Check out the announcement trailer above.

Third-party estimates claim Sony's surprise PS5, PC hit Helldivers 2 has sold more than eight million copies, and across Europe at least, it's been announced as the region's best-selling game for February 2024. This is according to GSD data, which includes both physical and digital purchases. 56 per cent of sales were for the PC version, which has lit up Steam player charts over the past couple of weeks.

TV and film actor Ian McShane has lent his voice to a comprehensive overview trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2 ahead of its PS5 launch next week. Clocking in at just shy of eight minutes, the Deadwood star introduces you to the sequel's story, world, the pawns you can recruit, and the monsters you'll face throughout your journey. Atlus has now confirmed you will need to buy pieces of content you probably don't want if you wish to play the Episode Aigis DLC for Persona 3 Reload, as the expansion is locked behind the £28.99 / $34.99 Expansion Pass. It won't be up for purchase separately, with a PR representative telling Push Square «the three parts of the Expansion Pass will not be available separately, and only available as part of the full pass».

Four years after its original announcement, developer MidBoss has revealed the sequel to 2064: Read Only Memories, titled Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER, will finally launch for PS5 on 16th May 2024. It will cost £12.79 / $14.99 and releases predominantly as a digital title on the PS Store, though a physical version is available for pre-order at Serenity Forge. While a PS4 version had been confirmed previously, it's mentioned nowhere in today's press assets, so it's likely been cancelled.

Sabotage Studio has confirmed one of its Sea of Stars updates arriving in the future will introduce a new mode that lets three players play together in local co-op. This makes Garl playable in the overworld along with the other main character that you don't select to control. You can see the update in action in the short video above, which reveals how the party can now split up on-screen.

Bandai Namco has uploaded a surprise Sand Land demo to the PS Store that allows you to sample a small portion of the upcoming PS5, PS4 game ahead of release next month. Available to download now, the demo gives you access to «a limited portion of the Sand Land map», which you can explore devoid of story content. Beelzebub, Rao, and Thief are all playable, and you can take the tank and the motorcycle for a ride. See it all in the demo trailer above.

Konami's PS5 remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be the subject of a future episode in the series' YouTube legacy series, where David Hayter guides you through the classic stealth franchise. The first part was posted today, and it is teased that the future episodes will «delve into the epic, long-awaited remake of what many fans consider to be the best game in the entire franchise».

Grasshopper has today announced the remaster of PS3 title Shadows Of The Damned it has in development is officially titled Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. It doesn't have a release date and no platforms have been confirmed yet, but the game will be playable at PAX East next week.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink will take a PS5, PS4 patch today that bundles a new late-game quest into the RPG, and makes some microtransactions available on the PS Store. On the Proud difficulty option, a new quest titled The Final Vision will allow you to battle Lucilius alongside Supreme Primarch Sandalphon. This updates the game to version 1.1.0, with two more content drops planned for April and May that will add more playable characters.

Kratos must go to war with himself in order to win a Twitter competition put together by Sony, because the final bout as PlayStation fans pick their favourite games is God of War versus God of War Ragnarok. At the time of writing, the poll that determines the winner still has 16 hours left to run, and the results so far are absurdly close. God of War has 48.1 per cent of the vote and God of War Ragnarok has 51.9 per cent — your vote really could have a significant impact at the moment.

Helldivers 2 has become big enough to earn its own clothing range on Insert Coin, with a variety of t-shirts, hoodies, and pins up for pre-order now. The items are set to ship in late May, by which point the tides of the in-game galactic warfare could have turned. There are two t-shirts — one bearing the Helldivers logo and another representing Super Earth — one hoodie, and a Super Earth pin available.

Rise of the Ronin is out for PS5 as an exclusive next week, which means Sony has given it the usual flashy launch trailer treatment, blending live-action footage with cutscenes taken from the game. Clocking in at exactly one minute, you can check the trailer out above ahead of the 22nd March 2024 release date.

Following just over a month of beta testing, Sony has now rolled out the latest PS5 firmware update to all. It's available for download now for everyone that wasn't included in the beta phase. As per the PlayStation Blog, here are all the new features included:

The heavily rumoured PS5 Pro will feature a GPU (graphics processing unit) up to three times faster than the PS5 model currently available, it's been claimed. Insider Gaming and YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead state PS5 Pro documents were posted to Sony's developer portal, and screenshots have been shared with them that suggest the upgraded console will deliver significant improvements over the original system.

One-man developer Shared Memory has announced Animal Well will launch for PS5 on 9th May 2024. It'll cost £20.99 / $24.99 at release.

New release WWE 2K24 was the best-selling physical game in the UK last week, knocking Final Fantasy VII Rebirth into second. The PS5 JRPG registered an 89 per cent drop in sales compared to its launch week while 2K's newest wrestling entry has debuted better than last year's instalment, with purchases up 26 per cent.

After the PS5, PS4 ports of Xbox game Pentiment rather unceremoniously had their Platinum Trophies titled incredibly simply as «PlatinumTrophy», the next Microsoft game coming to Sony systems thankfully won't release with the same cock-up. The Hi-Fi Rush Trophy list is live now on Exophase, and its Platinum Trophy is appropriately named «I've gone platinum!».

Patch 1.43 is out now for Gran Turismo 7 for PS5 and PS4, which bundles another three cars into the driving simulator as well as new races to take part in at Laguna Seca and the Suzuka and Tsukuba Circuits. A 1.68GB update will gain you access to that content, which can be downloaded now.

Borderlands maker Gearbox Entertainment is on the verge of joining Saber Interactive in being bought out of the sinking ship that is the Embracer Group, a new Kotaku report claims. It's stated that CEO Randy Pitchford shared the news with employees during a town hall meeting earlier this week, with more information coming in March. The site «understands that the decision was made to sell, and a deal is in the late stages of being finalized».

The open world survival game set in the Terminator universe has been revealed as Terminator Survivors. It is coming to PS5, and you can play the game either on your own or in co-op with friends. The game is set four years after the events of Judgment Day as «you emerge from a shelter to attempt and reestablish some semblance of society in a world that seems hell-bent on eliminating you and the last vestiges of mankind». Sony has today confirmed around 900 PlayStation employees — or around eight per cent of its workforce — are being laid off in order to «future ready ourselves to set the business up for what lies ahead». As a result of the downsizing, PlayStation's own London Studio is being closed completely and Firesprite will be reduced in size. The staff reductions will also hit Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, and Guerrilla Games. Some unannounced games have been cancelled.

Sony has confirmed it's cancelled «some» unannounced games at PlayStation Studios, and according to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, one of them is the long-rumoured Twisted Metal game from Firesprite. The journalist reports the project was in «early development» and hadn't been greenlit by Sony to go into full production yet, according to a source.

Sony has confirmed the lineup of PS5, PS4 games coming to PS Plus Essential for March 2024. Yesterday's leak shared Sifu is one of them — which is now official — but now we know the complete selection. All will be available to download and play from Tuesday, 5th March 2024, with the lineup looking like this:

The RPG's very own card game that's brand new to the PS5 remake, you can create your own deck, collect new cards, and win a tournament aboard a prestige cruise ship in the first half of the game. Metaphor: ReFantazio is the next huge JRPG from Shin Megami Tensei developer Atlus, and if new PS Store pages are anything to go by, then the game's structure will be like Persona, but in reverse. Wishlist pages for the title in Japan and Asia claim you'll «go on quests, dungeon dive, and hunt for treasures by day». Then, during the night, you will «strengthen relationships, build bonds, & increase virtues».

Having officially announced the sequel was in production last year, developer Spiders has revealed the first proper look at GreedFall II: The Dying World. The follow-up is now confirmed to be a prequel that at least starts three years before the events of the first title, and has you play as a Teer Fradee native who's been snatched away from your homeland by colonists. Square Enix issued an unexpected PS5, PS4 patch for Final Fantasy VII Remake yesterday, which upon close inspection by fans, reveals the final voiceline spoken by Aerith has been changed. Rather than looking up to the sky and explaining «I miss it. The steel sky.», she now remarks: «This sky… I don't like it.» You can see the change in the video above. A more literal description of how Aerith is feeling and what she sees up above, fans are trying to work out if the change actually means anything.

Sony has confirmed that «some» unannounced games in development within PlayStation Studios have been cancelled as a result of the decision to lay off around 900 employees. In a separate article from Hermen Hulst, it's explained: «We looked at our studios and our portfolio, evaluating projects in various stages of development, and have decided that some of those projects will not move forward.»

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and expands on the original PS1 plot as Cloud and co leave Midgar for adventures anew. With Final Fantasy VII Rebirth right around the corner, you would likely assume the Square Enix sequel to be dominating the pre-order charts found on Sony's own PS Store. However, for roughly a week now, this hasn't actually been the case. Ever since the confirmation of the PS5, PS4 Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection, the RPG follow-up has had to fend off stiff competition to claim top spot from two re-released PS2 classics.

A PlayStation executive has revealed in a new interview with Game File that the handheld PS Portal device is proving a lot more popular than the company expected. Hiromi Wakai, the VP of production management, explained «demand has continued to exceed our expectations» and so Sony is now focusing its efforts on «shipping more units consistently».

Just a day after Sony confirmed it's laying off 900 PlayStation employees across its first-party studios, publisher EA has announced it's doing the same. In the region of 670 workers — or around five per cent of the company's workforce — will lose their jobs as the EA Sports FC, Battlefield distributor moves «away from development of future licensed IP that we do not believe will be successful in our changing industry».

Of the 900 PlayStation employees that lost their jobs during yesterday's layoffs, it's reported that roughly 40 of them — or 10 per cent of the developer's workforce — belonged to Horizon Forbidden West team Guerrilla Games. Dutch outlet AD shared the news that the layoffs at Guerrilla Games concerned «ten percent of the staff, or about forty of the more than four hundred employees», having spoken to sources.

Following comments from Xbox boss Phil Spencer over how he's unsure who's helped by Helldivers 2 not launching on Microsoft consoles, Xbox fans have set up a petition directed at PlayStation to try and convince them to bring the co-op shooter to Xbox Series X|S. Close to 23,000 signatures have been garnered so far, with the petition saying it «heralds the arrival of a beloved franchise on new platforms» and «signifies a potential turning point in the ongoing console wars».

A new Korean age rating for an updated version of Nintendo Switch exclusive Shin Megami Tensei V was posted online overnight before being quickly pulled, suggesting Atlus plans to re-release the JRPG in the future. Named Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, the listing mentioned «improvements and additional content» and could be the multi-platform port that was datamined out of the original release a few years ago.

Capcom loves a good pre-release demo, and fans think they have found evidence of one for Dragon's Dogma 2 ahead of its PS5 launch next month. An update to the PC version on Steam apparently now brings up an extra app that's listed as «free on demand»; this is supposedly the text associated with demos uploaded to the digital marketplace. Due to that, a Dragon's Dogma 2 demo is thought to be on the way, presumably for all platforms.

The new open world survival game set in the Terminator universe, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, and also GreedFall II: The Dying World will be three of the games publisher Nacon is set to reveal during its next Nacon Connect event. It'll take place on 29th February 2024 at 6pm GMT / 10am PT, with around 30 minutes of news and information prepared.

An upcoming Dying Light 2 update is said to be so significant that Techland has decided to tie it in with a new Reloaded Edition of the game for PS5, PS4. Available on the PS Store from 22nd February 2024, the Reloaded Edition bundles the base game and its Bloody Ties DLC together, then includes a fresh patch that adds guns to the open world experience.

Suggestions that Persona 3 Reload will be treated to a wave of DLC, including the FES version's post-game content The Answer, have gained more weight after references to them were spotted in a recent datamine. Delving into the PC files revealed mentions of a «P3R Expansion Pass» that would grant access to six portions of DLC, one of which is «Episode Aigis / The Answer».

Insomniac Games has confirmed the long-awaited Marvel's Spider-Man 2 update that'll add New Game+, new suits, and much more will arrive on 7th March 2024. A tweet states a complete list of features will be shared closer to release, but until then, we know New Game+ and more Spider-Man suits are in.

Following on from its State of Play showing last week, Shift Up has opened pre-orders for Stellar Blade on the PS Store and at retailers worldwide. The PS5 exclusive is available in two versions: a £69.99 / $69.99 standard edition and also a £79.99 / $79.99 Digital Deluxe Edition. The game releases on 26th April 2024.

It's PS Plus Essential update day for active subscribers, bringing another three monthly PS5, PS4 games to members. It is another good month, with brand new title Foamstars added to the roster along with Rollerdrome and Steelrising. You can download the games now if you're situated in Europe, and USA readers will gain access later on in the day.

Building on reports that Bethesda's RPG Starfield will be given a PS5 version at some point later this year, a new article from The Verge claims Microsoft is also «considering» making Indiana Jones and the Great Circle available on the Sony system. The game will supposedly only have a «short period of exclusivity», with the initial Xbox release «tentatively targeting» December 2024.

The bizarre PS5 indie game INDIKA is back with a fresh trailer showcasing how the third-person action adventure plays, and it appears just as invitingly strange as its original pitch last year. Foamstars will be available for all PS Plus Essential members later today, but the online foam game won't be rewarding you with a Platinum Trophy once you've earned 100 per cent completion. Just like the upcoming Tomb Raider I-III PS5, PS4 remasters, Foamstars has chosen not to bother with the top gong in Sony's Trophy system. This is not a case of issues with bundled collections preventing additional Platinum Trophies, however. The developer just… isn't bothering.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has announced Microsoft plans to share its «vision for the future of Xbox» in a business update event next week. While neither confirming nor denying rampant reports that multiple Xbox exclusives shall be ported to PS5 and PS4, you'd assume the speculation would be denied if it wasn't happening.
