Following just over a month of beta testing, Sony has now rolled out the latest PS5 firmware update to all. It's available for download now for everyone that wasn't included in the beta phase. As per the PlayStation Blog, here are all the new features included:
If you've already had access to the latest PS5 firmware for a few weeks now, what's become your new favourite feature that everyone else should now check out? Let us know in the comments below.
Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he can be found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
No folders, no themes, no interest. Roll on the PS6, maybe it might be slightly less vile to use and behold.
Any hint on PS Remote Play improvements?
I want the news feed we also have on the ps4. What trophies your friends earned etc. Miss that.
>You can now adjust the brightness of your PS5 console’s power indicator
going to have to figure out how to do this one, the mic/speaker changes sound great as well. Thanks for letting me know whats in the update, was not sure where to look ~Musharna
Though I imagine system firmware is part of the update process, the bulk of the changes are to the system software. Two different things.
Maybe I'm too easily pleased, but the new shutdown animation is cool.
@jt887 @sanderson72 I feel like we've gone backwards since the PS4, not forwards. Iy has just generally been a waste of money for me so far tbh.
@Jamesblob Or maybe some people expect just a bit more from their £500 machine?
Just a thought.
I thought they are releasing a new peach/beige controller when I only saw the pic. LOL. That's a nice color too.
That's a lot of words for a simple stability update!
@jt887 I think you can backup PS5 saves onto a removable storage device. But agree I've always found it a bit stingy cloud saves/backups are a paid-for feature, I'm sure they could throw in 5/10 GB of storage per user.
We've improved system software performance and stability.
Ah yes, you can really feel the stability and performance this time around
@jt887 Still different artwork for the same games in the Installed and My Collection section
This is the one thing that still bothers me most. I wish the icons displayed at the top of the main Home Screen would use the art from My Collection instead of the crap from the Installed section. This was a non-issue in the early days of the PS5 and was bizarrely introduced in a firmware update a year or so after launch.
Like many others, I also wish we could have proper folders. You know, like the awesome ones that PS4 had. So weird that the new generation actually regressed concerning this highly
