Nailing down exactly what PS5 game INDIKA is seems like an impossibility, so we will let the trailer above do a lot of the talking. Now confirmed for a current-gen launch on 8th May 2024, you play as a young nun with the devil by her side on a journey of self-discovery. You shall be taken back to the 19th century in an alternative Russia where «religious visions clash with harsh reality» for a third-person adventure likely to live long in the mind.
As mentioned previously, INDIKA comes from studio Odd Meter, which was situated in Russia as the country invaded Ukraine in early 2022. As it «became both physically scary and, more importantly, morally difficult» to stay there, the team relocated to Kazakhstan. A portion of the game's revenue will now be donated to children affected by the invasion of Ukraine.
Now locked in for May, the fascinating title will make its way to PS5 during what is currently a somewhat quiet period for the release calendar. Will you be checking it out? Let us know in the comments below.
Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he can be found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
The first part of the trailer looks very interesting and original, and the second part looks really boring and generic. The game play trailer that was releases some months ago looked cool though. Guess I will keep holding L2 and pray this one is not another “agony” kind of deal.
@AlienigenX there is a demo on Steam, if you are interested. The game itself has some cool visuals and scenes for an indie project, but is kinda shallow in terms of gameplay and story.
@Tomato_Goose would love to try it! But I am just a lowly console gamer with an awfully outdated PC. Nevertheless I keep my hopes high because the subject matter seems interesting.
The story and the theming was great in the demo. Didn’t love the gameplay too much, but had some interesting mechanics.
Played a bit like a budget plague tale. So not terrible but not amazing either.
I may end up buying it to support the dev depending on the cost
I’d preorder this now if I could. Can’t wait. I think this one may have leapt over Plucky Squire as my most anticipated indie this year.
the intro and premise had me so excited then I saw a very generic game with a good voice-over. Hope I'm wrong, will check out the Steam demo
Played the demo on Steam Deck. The game has an awesomely weird style that I really dig.
Unfortunately the gameplay is not for me. There was one puzzle that was so obscure and unlike any of the puzzles before it, that almost made me quit the demo, but I happened to discover the solution accidentally.

But there's also no getting around just how unoptimized the title is on a technical level. As stressed in our aforementioned review, the game's frame rate can be a problem. Most of the time, it's found hovering between 30 and 45 frames-per-second, which is fine, but it's certainly not the consistent 60fps that you want from a game that's so heavy on action.
