Sony president Hiroki Totoki will today step into his new role as PlayStation CEO following Jim Ryan's retirement after a more than 30-year tenure at the company. While retaining his duties across the wider business, Totoki's main objective will be to aid the search for a true successor to Jim Ryan while defining «the next chapter of PlayStation's future».

The PS5 remake of Silent Hill 2 has taken one step closer to its reported 2024 release as the ESRB has handed the title a Mature age rating. Generally awarded near the completion of a game's development, the USA firm warns of blood and gore, language, sexual themes, and violence throughout the experience from Bloober Team. A trailer published by Sony at the start of 2024 pegged Silent Hill 2 with a 2024 release window, and this new update could signal that's still on the cards.

The monthly PS Plus Essential update has arrived, granting all members of Sony's subscription service access to three new PS5, PS4 titles. Young Horses, the studio behind the PS5 launch title Bugsnax, has announced it's turning the indie hit into a card game. The developer requires $15,000 of funding on Kickstarter to make it a reality, with orders currently being accepted from the USA. The team plans to begin shipping the card game in October 2024 for those supporting the campaign, and then international orders will be accepted roughly one month later.

Larian Studios appears ready to leave the Baldur's Gate franchise behind having released the landmark third instalment, with founder Swen Vicke saying the developer has no plans for any Baldur's Gate 3 DLC and won't be producing a fourth game. His comments were made during a GDC panel earlier today, where it was said the team plans to move away from Dungeons & Dragons entirely for something new, which has been in development at least as of January 2024.

Almost four long years after its original announcement, Red Thread Games has confirmed Dustborn will launch for PS5, PS4 on 20th August 2024. A new trailer debuted during today's Future Games Show announcing the release date, which you can catch above. The game will cost $29.99 on the PS Store, with a physical edition available at a higher price.

The Explore page on the PS5 home screen appears to be running a beta that adds new features like backgrounds, friend activities, your controller's battery life, and easy links to console storage. After over a year of relative silence, Skydance Interactive and Marvel showed off their upcoming game collaboration in a big way earlier this week with a blockbuster Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra trailer. The game was first revealed back in 2022, with the base premise being Captain America and Black Panther joining forces to take down Hydra during World War 2.

Uncharted creator Amy Hennig’s Skydance New Media has officially unveiled Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, a single-player action-adventure game set during the Second World War that will see players stepping into the shoes of Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of that Era, and above all else, the game’s visual fidelity has turned more than a few heads. During the recent State of Unreal presentation at GDC, Hennig offered further details on the game, including how Unreal Engine is aiding its development.

We finally have our first look at Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, an upcoming action-adventure video game featuring the Marvel Comics characters Black Panther and Captain America that was originally announced as an untitled project back in October 2021.

Skydance New Media revealed its first story trailer for as part of Epic’s “State Of Unreal” presentation at the 2024 Game Developers Conference (GDC).
