Hasbro has seen unprecedented success in gaming with Baldur’s Gate 3, so it’s no surprise that the company is planning on greatly expanding its presence in the AAA space. The company has already confirmed that it’s in discussion with multiple potential external partners for Baldur’s Gate 4 (with Larian Studios having confirmed it’s focusing on its own IP for its next projects), while Hasbro-owned Archetype Entertainment is also working on a new AAA sci-fi RPG in the form of Exodus. Beyond that, speaking in a recent interview with GamesIndustry, Dan Ayoub – who’s the head of digital product development at Hasbro-owned Wizards of the Coast – revealed new details on another major project in the works at the company.

But Larian has left the building, moving onwards and upwards, and ultimate IP holder Hasbro has already made a $1 billion bet on internal game development.

As Epic Games announced a set of mass layoffs yesterday, Ubisoft quietly conducted some of its own. Six members in the community and social media teams were let go, a spokesperson confirmed to Polygon.

Epic Games, which makes Fortnite and Unreal Engine, is laying off a devastating 16% of its workforce, leaving roughly 830 workers without jobs, Management reportedly emailed staff Thursday to share the news. Bloomberg News first reported the layoffs before Epic Games published its internal memo online.
